They seem to be the two top nominees out of the others who were selected.

What are your guys' thoughts? What are your predictions for who will go away with the award, and why?

Given, I could be completely wrong about the other nominees and neither Tiesto nor the Chemical Bros. will get the award. I just want to get a broader outlook from everybody.

Thanks!

Tiesto is one of the greatest things to come out of a bag of shit. Make of that what you will.

I dont dislike Tiesto himself cause he's a very nice person, and i dont see anything wrong in what he does. He plays average trance records and he does it well. If thats your cup of tea than fair enough. I think his music is quite shit, but than again, Tiesto fans might think the chems are shit.

The grammy's have always been quite commercial and so is Tiesto. I mean, Kanye West is nominated like twelve million times. So, in an ideal world the Chems would win because they think outside the box, but i think Tiesto wil win cause most people feel quite comfortable INSIDE the box ;-)

argh, I really don't like Kanye West!!!!

He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

Tiesto does what he does and his music doesn't really excite me, but he connects with a lot of people and has been for years. So fair play he gets some Grammy recognition. The Grammy awards may be catering to the most popular artists a great deal of the time, but it's always a nice surprise when the awards are given to artists who think outside of the box (to steal the phrase from Jeanie). Like the previous times the Chems won the awards - someone or perhaps a few people on the committee is listening and thinking outside the box. That said I don't want to predict who is going to win, just send out some Best of Luck vibes to the Chems and if they win, great. If not, then at least they can go down in history as one of the bands up for a nom on the Grammy Awards' golden anniversary.

I remember reading recently, news about Michael Jacksons latest album being worked on by "the musical superstar Kanye West". Stupid journalism! Off with their heads!

I agree Iguana, Trance is pants! ha-ha! No he is a nice guy and a good DJ, but not like you say Jeanie, an outside the box player....go Chems!!!!

My life is a boat, being blown by you. With nothing ahead, just the deepest blue... To me you're like a setting sun. You rise then you're gone.

Hey Cyber, what's up, don't kill me. XP

Tiesto has his cool songs. His remix of the Pirates of the Caribbean, for example, was very cool. And Ten Seconds Before Sunrise is a really pretty trance cut. But, yeah, all of his stuff sounds very similar. If you've heard one of his songs, it really feels like you've heard them all.

But I have to cheer Tom 'n Ed on because they have the rare and awesome ability to evolve and change while still sounding like The Chemical Brothers. I really think that quality is over looked.

So, up until the 10th of February, it's a wave of good luck vibes from California! I think DIA's song title is enough luck (or whatever you want to call it - luck doesn't seem to be the right word) as it is. ;)

I think my hatetred comes from his version of Adagio for Strings which was mastered by William Orbit, you just can't improve on Orbit's take on the Samuel Barber classic. But Tiesto thought he could, the fool! And what I hate him more for is when people ask me if i've heard Adagio for Strings, and when I start going into how great Orbit is they stop me in my tracks with the words "no, Tiesto".

Tiesto is lame, mass market techno for the ignorant masses.

I'm not even a fan of William Orbits "Adiago for Strings". Nothing against Orbit, I think he's great for the most part. I'm just not a big fan of electronic attempts/covers of classical music. Barber's Adiago For Strings is a gorgeous melancholic, heartbreaking piece of music as is... But on the other hand, if these electronified versions get more people into classical music then I don't think that's always a bad thing.

It is indeed incredibly hard to do something special with a classical piece of music, it's rare to hear something as good as Orbit's take on Adagio for Strings.

For me, the best work is by Rob Dougan <3 on Clubbed to Death, and Clubbed to Death 2
