Why do they have to do this?!?!?
I already bought the album... but with this latest album there seems to be so many diff. versions of the singles... seems like Universal (who dist. the CD over here is getting greedy).
In terms of "Swiper" as a tune... it was ok, with some quality bits... I can see it as a track that'll grow on me.

I know what you mean, Steve. I decided just to skip purchasing the 'Believe' singles, b/c all the remixes and b-sides are on the 'Boxer' US EP, except for Believe Live in Milan. Now I need to get the UK Boxer single with 'Swiper.'
I'd like to see a CD release of Galvanize (Switch remix) soon, as I believe that (and Swiper and Believe Live) are the only b-sides I'm missing from this era.
Let's round up the b-sides and remixes for this era:
Giant
Rize Up
EBW 7
Spring
Swiper
Boxer (DFA mix)
Believe (Matthew Johnson mix)
Believe (Erol Alkan mix)
Galvanize (Abe Duque mix)
Galvanize (Switch mix)
Believe (Live in Milan)
Am I missing any?

Releasing a disc with:
Giant
Rize Up
EBW 7
Spring
Swiper
Boxer (DFA mix)
Believe (Matthew Johnson mix)
Believe (Erol Alkan mix)
Galvanize (Abe Duque mix)
Galvanize (Switch mix)
Believe (Live in Milan)
would seriously give me more incentive to buy it... not spreading these tunes over however many singles / b-sides spawn from this album.
As I've said I am a huge Chem fan... but how much is too much?
By doing this all their doing is shooting themselves in the foot... by spreading their material too thin... while Universal cashes in on the sales.
If anyone cares to enlighten me as to the reason behind this feel free to do so.
That includes you Tom & Ed! :D

Well, one reason for multiple releases of singles with 2-3 songs each, especially in the UK, is due to chart eligibility. I'm not 100% positive, but I think in the UK for a single to be chart eligible, it can't have more than 3 songs per release. Which would explain why (in the UK) Galvanize was released in 2 parts, and so was Believe.
The Boxer EP is an exclusive release to the US, and for those of us diehards we're not going to be 100% pleased with the EP's format because obviously, this-and-that is left out. There's no way around it, without going overboard on the EP which is limited in track numbers anyway. I admit it is a little disappointing that Swiper isn't included on it, but then again it was a little disappointing that Believe completely bypassed US consumption - leaving a months long lull between the Chems singles being released this side of the pond.
Anyway, I'm babbling. I'm just happy with whatever I can get, whenever it comes my way. I know in good time I'll eventually have everything I want and need out of the Push The Button era.

Steve: I think you're being super-optimistic there. The only example I can think of something similar would be Oasis - The Masterplan, and that was pretty crap. Bands generally don't release B-side albums coz they get accused of recycling old material for the sake of profit. You know, instead of writing new stuff they just cash in on old stuff.
It worked when the Chems released Singles as a 2CD thing, but if they'd have released them seperately, I doubt the second CD would have sold well at all.

Having listened to it again tonight (different environment this time), I've gotta say that Swiper is a grower. The spastic drums are awesome, and the bass isn't as mindless as I first thought. It's like It Doesn't Matter for the 21st century. It was pretty stupid of me not to realise that almost all Chems tracks are growers, all the classics that is. There are quite a few Chems tracks I didn't like 1st time round, like Galvanize, Star Guitar, Nude Night, The Golden Path (I still don't love it, but like it enough), even TPPR - my music tastes were a little different back then remember!

I liked galvanize the first time i heard it.. but when i heard it on PTB.. I hated it. It's just "there". It doesn't seem to match the flow of the other songs at all.. I can't hear it.
It's like "The American Way" on The crystal method's Legion of Boom. It' just weird.
By itself, I like galvanize, though.
The Golden Path I absolutely HATED. I've listened to it a few times, and it really is a great song. I think my own mind said "This isn't chemical brothers at all".. and so I hated it based on first thoughts. But really, it is Chemical Brothers, and even though it's different... I love it. Especially the end where he sings, "I never ment to hurt you"
The video is pretty cool, too
