The Boxer US EP

I'd love to tell you how I did this! :D The materials I used were foamcoare and paint. To get the image as large as I did, I had to use an overhead projector as my guide. The overhead projector (like the kind they use in schools during lectures) allowed me to project the image onto a wall and I could adjust it to the size I wanted. I then traced the image of the head, but I had to do it in two parts because the head was wider and taller than any one piece of foamcore I had lying around.
I did the same thing with the letters, projected them up on the wall and traced them out. Once everything was traced out, I had to cut the images out using an x-acto knife (and many, many blades!) I shed some blood over this picture, I nicked my fingers a few times!
The materials I used for the stars were foamcore as well, but I used shiny red mylar covered foamcore for some of them so the stars would be shiny. Making the red and white stars were a pain in the butt, it was very hard to tell exactly how much of a certain colored star I needed! But to make the red, white and gray stars, I simply made a foamcore templete to use so I could trace the other stars. I seriously lost count of how many stars I cut out! Well over a hundred, I thought it would never end.
To make that mess of black stars, I was going to cut out a bunch of stars using black foamcore but since the project was for work, time was beginning to be an issue. I made a stamp using one of the stars I cut out, and dipped it in paint then applied it to the head.
The challenging part aside from proper placement of the stars in all this was layering each and every individual piece so my picture would look 3 dimensional. I used thick foam tape to do that.
It's actually very delicate because there are so many layers that protrude from the actual image. And with all that foamcore, it weighs a lot and is very cumbersome when you go to move it.
All in all, I spent about 3 full uninterrupted working days to make this, and I didn't think it would take me as long as it did. I even worked off the clock on my lunch break and after work, so I don't remember how many hours went into this. People would come into my office and ask if I was done yet, but my boss was really cool about letting me take so much time to make this. When I was making wallboard images like this one for my job, I only had at the most 1 working day to complete it. So for my boss to let me have 3 days for this was a real treat.
Now getting it home was probably the biggest challenge of all!

Thats funny that the color this time is orange..i always see songs in colors. And the boxer is always kind off yellow , orange!
Ans Come Inside is bleu/purple kind off.
Myeah i know i'm weird hahaha
Not at all, that's how I feel. Galvanize always makes me think of dark green, The Boxer is orange/purple. Sunshine Underground and LFB remind me of purples and blues (that could be to do with the single cover). Life is sweet makes me think of steely greys/browns. I have yet to listen to song where I visualise pure white though.
The new artwork theme is brilliant but c'mon tom and ed talk about it in the interviews! I want to hear how they decided the new artwork.
whirly that 3d art looks divine!

*puts geek hat on* - when you see sounds as colours its called 'synasthesia' - its where u muddle your senses, for example you could touch something and get a taste, or hear something and see a colour. it can happen if you've done hallucinogens (i 'saw' tribal drumming in a wall oncem dont ask hehe), but u can just get it naturally - i always see frequencies (like bass, middle, treble) like the colour of madeira cake hehe - brown for bass, yellow for mid and pink for treble, and all blurred in between for lowermids, high mids etc etc erm yeh anyway.... X-D
back to the boxer! yes, it rocks, hard.

I didn't even know there was a word to describe that. Definitely the coolest thing I've learned in a long time!!!! 8)

:? :? :? Rolling Stone says The Boxer US EP has 8 tracks including Swiper....could this be an error on Rolling Stone magazine's part or just a late addition to the U.S. EP?
