No one has posted anymore info on this show?!?!?! It was amazing! I drove down from Vancouver because there was no way I was gonna miss them! I started listening to the boys in 1996/97 and missed their last show in Seattle in 1998. Back then I thought ....no biggie, I'll just see them next year.....I DIDN'T KNOW ID HAVE TO WAIT 7 FRIGGEN YEARS!......... Its been a long 7 years, but ya know what, id wait 7 more if I had to! You guys are amazing!

I lost my voice that night shouting for you to come back on stage and I think most of us there would of stayed for an hour screaming for a second encore if the roadies hadn't started taking down the equipment so fast! Actually I still shouted even as all the shit came down. I didn't care I could of listened to you guys play for two days straight! Seriously! I hadn't felt that way since...well, the first time I fell in love. I just loved life. Tom's energy that night was amazing and just lifted me higher. Ed was mellow but seemed to be taking in the whole experience and just enjoying the moments. It was two hours of my life I will never forget.

I have pics of the show and a short video for download on my blog here http://spaces.msn.co...mbers/maximboy/

Their not the best but ya get a good idea of how close we were to Tom and Ed. Amazing show guys, all I can say is,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

P.S. PLEASE come up to Vancouver this fall, I need to feel that vibe again.

Sweet to read this, chembro. What a lovely experience it sounds like you had. It's good to love life, and it's an amazing thing when music brings that love out of you.

Thanks for sharing the pics n'all too. :)

Thanks whirleygirl! Glad you liked the pics. I was able to capture the colors really well but tom and ed are mostly blurry. Actually the pics turned out better than i thought they would, I guess it helped that the lighting was so bright I could still see the visuals burnt into my eyes on the drive home! LOL! ahhhhh.. good times!

I too was there. I also drove from Vancouver. The chems in a club!!!! I have to agree. The show was awesome. Apart from leaving out "It began in Africa", the show rocked very heavy. I really liked "star guitar", "believe', and "surface to air" (my favorite from the new album). The lightinglasers were wicked. As you can see in the picture, I don't know if that was a just a screen behind them, or some kind of mirror, but when they hit that crescendo in "come inside", the screen lit up with bright light, and the crowd went hysterical. Very cool.

I had seen them at the PNE forum with my bro in 99' and remember it as one of the most mind-blowing things I had ever seen. The best sound system I have ever heard in a concert. I can still remember the descending bass in "under the influence" shaking my soul.

Up till seeing them, I had always viewed electronic music as a bunch of "noise" that kids dance to. After seeing the chemicals, though, my opinion changed. That week, I went out and purchased their entire discography. These guys are pioneers in electronic music. I still think "dig your own hole" is up there with kraftwerk's "the man machine" in terms of being absolutely cutting-edge electronica for its time. They can weave a tapestry of wicked soundscapes like "sunshine underground" or "private psychadelic reel"and still rock with tunes like "believe". They simply have to come back agin to the Northwest again.

Waaaaa?!?! I missed them in 99 too! Crap! I missed so many good shows back then. But me being the only one of my friends to like this music kinda made it hard to listen to my music, let alone see a show. Thank god that's changed!

Its funny how people who get this music reeeeeeally get it, they love it, and people that don't, can't stand it for more than 10 seconds. At least, that's what I've found.

block, same here man, the chems opened the door for me and led me to the crystal method, prodigy, daft punk, and on and on.... now I basically never turn on the radio anymore, its just not the same.

chembro, I work in a record store and I see this all the time - with customers as well as coworkers - people who dig electronic music are quite fanatical about it, you get them going in a conversation and there's this fervor to their voice. But you're all too right about the people who can't stand it. I work with a guy who's worked at the store for over 26 years and will likely be a permanent fixture as long as the store stays in business - I've worked with him over 10 years. He borders on the genius and is usually very receptive to all types of music. He has the most incredible knowledge of classical music I've ever seen but he's also a big Bob Dylan fan, loves the Beatles, digs the Dead, and he loves the quirky loungy kind of stuff like Henry Mancini and Martin Denny and Herb Albert. But god, you put in anything with blips and beeps and he's ready to pull his hair out.

We've discussed electronic music at length and it's just noise to him, he can't stand it - either he doesn't understand or it's just one of those generational thing perhaps (he's in his 50's). I don't fault him for it, it's just not his style anymore than it would be my style to start listening to Norwegian death metal bands all of a sudden. But it can be frustrating because he can be so outspoken and generally crusty in regards to electronic music.

Though he is pretty funny when Push The Button is played instore - he can imitate the bweeps and bwoops in Believe quite well!

Well, then, chembro in vancouver, I guess you are not going to like the fact that they also played at the Rage nightclub in 97'. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, dude. My friend seen it and he says that their set sounded similar to the brixton 96' boot that's out there, just when "block rocking beats" first hit the air. Very similar light show, with a big screen behind the stage.

Also, you mentioned the Prodigy. Fuck yeah!! They are on tour right now and played a gig with the chems at Coachella, but so far that's their only North American date. Let's hope they come back here, as they have never been to the Northwest EVER. I am keeping my eyes and ears open...
