I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but when i put in PTB into the computer, it plays in some weird, very slow, very unapealing, very crap media player thang, with gaps between songs and no options to do anything.

has anyone else had this problem?

its really frustrating me cos everytime i get to the end of Believe, im waitin for Hold Tight London and it fucking stops!!!

my cd is 'Copy Controlled' could that be it?

is there any way i can get round it??

:?

Mine doesn't do that. Try holding down left-shift as you insert the CD, that should stop the player auto-playing. Then you should be able to use Windows Media Player to play the CD.

If that doesn't work, I'm stumped!

just one last thing, is your cd copy controlled, mine says it on the front up the side of the plastic run through beside the cover.

it mite be cos they dont want people copying it so they play it on a player that cant copy, mine was from cd-wow so could be some odd version :?

The same player is on the promo version of PTB and also my version of the Singles 93-03. Its because of the copy control

Mine is a copy-controlled version as well, I thought all copies were to be honest.

Doesn't stop me playing it in Windows Media Player though (I'm running version 10)

Must be the copy control, for large skipping breaks would affect some areas of certain tracks.

it's not the copy-control, WMP just has really annoying 2-second skips between songs, and if you dont have much memory it can be even longer.

This becomes painfully obvious when listening to PTB and other progressive-like albums.

Yes, this player is fucken bad, and it doin this fucken spaces between tracks. I'am not sure this is about amount of memory(i have 512 mb ram and it's the same thing). Anyway You don't need listen this through this shit. Cancel installation of the player from the cd and run it with standard Windows Media Player, and everything is pink :)

the thing i don't understand is the copy-control function, shouldn't it protect the CD against any try to do so? because i played it in my wmplayer and tried to copy it and it worked... my eyes opened widely!

How does that come? Its a contradiction anyway...

Yeah, the issue your having is definitely related to that crap copy control technology. On my computer I simply can't play Copy Control CDs in any media player like WMP, they all play in the little player that pops up and at crap quality - sometimes they won't even do that! My CD-ROM drive makes loud funny noises and it can't even read the CD. It really depends on your model of CD-ROM drive, because I've heard that some people can listen to and rip CDs on their computer with no problems. I'm with you on getting another copy on normal format CD - I had to order it from the UK because I'm in Hong Kong and that's the only place in the world where they made a non-copy control version - I got it on Friday in the mail and I'm ripping it as I type this! I got another version of PTB which is the Japan version and that was Copy Control... but at least I can listen to Giant in my stereo.
