A productive day, for sure, 'stash. I envy that.

I'm about to go hit the driving range with a buddy and then some summery cocktails on a patio somewhere and we'll see where Friday night takes us from there. Too bad I have to be up at 5:45 AM for work tomorrow, but ah well.

There is a sick thunderstorm at the moment in the whole country! The one Den was talking about.

Its a crazy front all over Holland - beautifull lightning and heavy rain but its one of the biggest storms ever!

Sorry to hear about that Den :(

Hahahaha i would do that tomorrow if i could u know that! Apparently in Holland there were most lightflashes in one minute EVER in the history of Holland ( Or at least , until when they first started meassuring these things )

Anyway i have another problem.

My fucking WISDOM TEETH. Wisdom ?! Hell no! PAIN!! PAAAAINN!!!

Basicly , my wisdom teeth is growing out now , but instead of just growing down with normal straight roots , its growing towards my cheek and its has roots that are more shaped like a hook.

I have to go to the hospital and they have to cut it out.

I am in so much pain already because its also getting infected now , and i have to wait at least one week until its out !!

And i am so terrified of them cutting it out !!

I wish i could have total sleep u know like when u go into surgery.

Please people tell me that its not that bad !!

I had 3 impacted wisdom teeth removed about 9 years ago. Having them removed was a snap. There was nothing to it really (then again I have a very high pain tolerance). The doctors put me completely under, then when I woke up they sent me home with a big bottle of vicodin. I had to eat through a straw for a couple of days but after that I was right as rain. You'll be fine Jeanie. Once the wisdom teeth are out you'll never have to worry about them ever again!

I was fortunate enough that they detected my wisdom teeth were coming in the wrong way before the roots completely took hold. I was considering playing hockey later that night but decided against because I was still a little woozy from the anesthetic. I was back to normal about two days later.

My ex, unfortunately, waited too long to get them removed and had a bad time. Her face got swollen like a chipmunk's, badly bruised, and she couldn't eat for almost two weeks. She lost nearly 15 pounds from not being able to eat.

Hopefully your experience will be a little closer to mine.

Think I'm going to stay in, enjoy a beer, a spliff, and watch a movie. Worked 8 hours on 3 hours sleep, then went rollerblading by the river for 1 1/2 hours, then read and tanned in the backyard. Beautiful day. Beautiful.

You guys are so lucky. You go under total anesthetic.

We , in Holland , only get like painkil stuff in youre mouth that they insert with injections.

Yes people. So u are awake the whole time !!

But thanks for the nice words. I'm in a lot of pain now so i want them out !!!! :(

I think it sucks you have to live with that kind of pain for a week before your wisdom tooth is removed.

I hate having to do anything that involves fixing my teeth. I admit I am afraid of going to the dentist, but that's because the older I get, the more that's going wrong with my freakin mouth and I really really despise root canals - both physically and financially. In the US we have good dental care, but insurance coverage is an absolute joke.

Jeanie, It's the same kinda deal here in Ireland, but they use a different(weaker) anaesthetic than they do in the UK. The dentist was unable to do any work on my teeth about 10 years ago because I could feel everything that was goin on in my mouth(not nice). I got 3 injections for the one tooth that day and she still couldn't work. So that was left for a good while as it wasn't a risk to the rest of my mouth.

I recently had over two grands' worth of work done on my front teeth and some of the back teeth, so I went to Northern Ireland to get it done. I had to do 12 trips to the dentist over three months but it was soooo worth it. They used a different drug for anaesthetic and they also had an option to be put under for a while(if you're a nervous patient). I stayed conscious for it all and it was brilliant. Even the root-canal work was a doddle. I'll go back to that same dentist from now on, even with the poor Euro-Sterling rate. It's only a bummer that he's gonna retire in the next two years or so.

As for wisdom teeth, I've been having a lot of pain with mine recently as they take hold but thankfully the dentist said they seem to be comin through fine. I hope you don't have too much bother with them.

I thought if you went for surgical dentistry anywhere you were given the choice of being put under so long as you had someone to take you home after, no?

My sis had it done before and let's just say the journey home after was...revealing! She started talking about all the people she fancied and calling teachers names and some other sectret-y stuff that only came out cause of the haze in her head!

hahaha, being put under for surgery is so strange! Especially going under, because you can feel it running cold through your veins and there's this thick humming in your head, everything goes black and the next thing you know, you're awake. Anaesthetic is kind of like a truth serum... I remember going in to have my appendix removed and when I came out of it, the surgeon came in to see how I was and said, "So... right after we brought you out of surgery you were kind of talking a lot. It sounds like you sure had a good time at Pink Floyd, huh?" and then he winked at me. And my son had an extra tooth (that was growing out of the roof of his mouth) removed last summer and when he came out of it, the nurse came and got me and said, "He's doing just fine, he said he's not in pain but he's sure talking up a storm about trains and Star Wars."

I wasn't actually put under, they told me I would be heavily sedated though. But I was completely out very fast and drifted in and out of consciousness, hallucinating vividly for a couple hours after coming out of it.

I'd like to know what it was I was given, to be honest. It was killer.

--------

Very pissed at the weather. It's been glorious the last few days but it started storming right as I got off of work. I was supposed to play back-to-back soccer games tonight and then go rollerblading and maybe chill in my backyard for a bit, but nooooo.....

And it's supposed to brilliantly hot and sunny tomorrow while I work (and my friends are going to the beach), but rainy for my two days off this week.

I'm right pissed.

On the subject of anesthesia, I remember getting my wisdom teeth taken out.

Basically what I remember is laying down on the chair, looking down at my arm after I felt them spray some numbing solution on it, seeing them put the needle in, and thinking to myself, "cool." The next thing I remember I woke up in the hall sitting down on a chair. I had no idea how I got there.

It's 30 C out, beautifully sunny and I am dog tired from about 1 3/4 hours rollerblading. Going to shower then head to the beach for a few hours.

Love it.

Yeah, Lake Winnipeg, the world's 11th largest freshwater lake is about 90 minutes drive north from here. Grand Beach is one of the finest and least commercialized beaches with some of the nicest sand in North America. In the early 80s, Playboy listed it in a Top 10 of North American beaches.
