Places to def check out:

Camden market (the one right next to Camden lock, not the 'ironic' t shirt market next to the station!)

The Lock tavern pub in Camden which is part owned by DJ Jon Carter and does the best sunday chicken lunch EVAH! And famous DJs pop in unannounced time to time to spin!

The Oxford in Kentish Town is quite nice pub too...

The Tate Modern Gallery and the South Bank is really lovely and u get a great view of London Bridge from the Millenium Bridge - Really pretty at night!

Hyde Park

Regents Park

You gotta do Oxford Circus if you're in London. just coz u have to!

Covent Garden is a really good place to shop or just browse if you're perma broke like me! Plastic fantastic record shop is there too...

Bar Vinyl on Inverness St in Camden is a cool record shop and bar.

I reckon Knowhow records on Buck Street, Camden is the bestest record shop in London for House/Techno/Breakbeat.

Check out Music & Video Exchange in Camden or Notting Hill for really good records that nobody wants anymore and rarities.

The Worlds End in Camden is one of the biggest pubs in London and is worth checking out...

Turnmills NYE of course!

Fabric in Farringdon is a really cool club and The End in Holborn has lots of cheeky nights.

Not sure if u guys over the pond have heard of the TV show Nathan Barley, but its basically a show based in the London media industry and how the people in it are total dicks! But anyway if you're an arty meeja darling or art/fashion student, the place to go out is Shoreditch/Hoxton square where you will see a multitude of bad haircuts and fashion disasters and loads and loads of clubs and bars! Good ones to check out are Herbal, Club 333, Jam, and Mother bar... They're well bum!

Soho Square for some good central pub drinking

God I must like an alcoholic! But anyways all the other usual touristy stuff will be in the guides so theres no point me repeating it!

And dont buy weed off the street in Camden, even if it smells like good shit, its normally a bag of kitchen herbs but with some weed at the top of the bag to make it seem/smell like good stuff... Wankers!

Sorry I cant help you on the footie front, I have no idea!

Here's some recommended pubs for watching sport in...

F3K

171 North End Road, W14

With 16 TV screens spread all around the premises and almost continuous coverage of football (be it Premier League, First Division, Scottish Premiership, Spanish League, Bundesliga, etc, etc) F3K (or the Famous Three Kings, as it is sometimes known) can quite accurately claim to be one of the top sports bars in town. If your idea of "being sporty" is getting sloshed whilst watching TV in West London then it'll be right up your alley.

Sports Caf

80 Haymarket, SW1

Just as the Uffizi Gallery could be considered the art lover's ultimate destination, or the Bauhaus Archiv somewhere for fans of early 20th century architecture to revel in history, London's Sports Caf must surely be one of the planets finest sports bars. This temple to skilful athleticism boasts 120 TVs, 3 bars and a dance floor. It is even open till 3am! With a menu featuring delights such as Foul Play, Souper Bowl and Power Play Satay, it's almost as inspiring as Jenson Button's new haircut.

Walkabout

58 Shepherds Bush Green, W12

This chain of Aussie bars screens a wide variety of sport piped in from down under. As anyone who has a realistic outlook on national sporting prowess will know, the Aussies and Kiwis are much better at sport than everyone else. Why? Because they spend their teenage years exercising, playing cricket and surfing, rather than scoring crack and listening to garage like British kids (seems Shane Warne fancied the best of both worlds doesn't it? Ed). If you want to support a team that wins most of the time then head down to the Walkabout and take your pick.

Other branches at Temple Place, Shoe Lane Henrietta Street, Upper Street, and Shaftesbury Avenue

Ahhhhhh... the World's End pub in Camden!

In 1996, stash and I read about this place called Dr. Herman's Head Shop where they sold all these mild hallucinogen pills and other paraphenalia. They had a special room in back that was floor to ceiling shag carpeting and big puffy pillows on the floor. For a couple pounds they'd put you in this room, give you some headphones with some ambient tunes, and put these cyber punk looking gadgets that had pulsing lights over your eyes. After a short while when you were into the groove, the pulsing lights synced up to the music.

Then you get yourself high. Not a full blown psychadelic experience but the sort of high you'd get right before the walls started breathing and melting (if you were shrooming or doing acid). You know, when you sort of start staring and tripping out on bright things, getting all giggly... anyway. stash and I stumbled out of the place giggling like lunatics. And we stumbled into the World's End because by that time it was evening rush hour, and we were mildly tripping but sane enough to know there was absolutely now way we could deal with all the people on the tube. So there we stayed for god knows how long, watching life go by and taking it all in.

Ahhhh. The memories! The World's End is still there but sadly, Dr. Herman's Headshop is no longer... at least not when I went back in 1999 looking for it.

I should add, it wasn't the pulsing lights and shag carpeting that gave us the giggles, it was the weird pills we took. All that shaggy fluff was more disorienting than anything, but then again, it could've been the pills talking! X-D

Hey, is Camden Town within Zones 1 or 2 for public transportation?

Because I found a really good sounding, well-priced hostel in the area (5 min walk from Camden Town Station) and thought that it might very well be conducive to a lot of fun.
