    Chemical Brothers and Sisters,

We want to thank you for helping us pass the magic 100,000 friends mark (and then some!) this past week.

We feel we have some of the most passionate and intelligent supporters out there and the sheer volume of emails, posts and comments is really astounding. The boys keep a close eye on the page and are really enjoying the direct feedback from everyone out there.

Now we want to try something to help spread the word even more as we prepare for the release of "We Are The Night". One of the things we like about our MySpace friends list is that you are real people, artists, bands and friends. Certainly there are some Spam Masters, but overall it's a real number.

Furthermore, we won't stoop to just spamming requests out into the ether merely to increase our numbers for cosmetic reasons. Blech.

So this is where you come in. If each of you would turn a friend onto The Chems MySpace page, we could literally double our friends really quickly. We know you must have a friend who is already a fan but isn't our friend, or one that needs to join the Chemical church.

You can use that "check out my friend's proflie" thingy right on the front page. I'm curious to see how this goes.

As a reward I promise I'll have U.S. tour dates soon and other cool news.

If you haven't been over to the new website and registered and/or signed up for this blog yet, please do so and we'll keep you in the loop on all things Chemical.

The live dates have been going fantastically by all accounts and of course the band send their love to all of you...

"As a reward I promise I'll have U.S. tour dates soon and other cool news."

So are they only gonna have the US tour dates when they double their fried count? That pisses me...especially 'cause Errol has been saying he'll have the US dates soon for the past 4 months! And now he wants us to double the friends? Lame..

I'm not sure what to think, but I don't want to pass judgement on Errol. He's getting orders from higher up, he doesn't make the decisions. The thing is, maintaining the myspace account is Errol's job and part of his job is marketing the Chems and getting the word out. For all the lameness myspace is, it's become a great resource as well as marketing tool. And myspace is all about marketing and networking, so in a way, what he's asking makes sense in the myspace realm (even if it does come across as lame, which I agree). It's probably safe to say he's feeling some pressure from the label to push the count higher the closer we come to the album's release date.

That said, the wording in the blog is a bit of a head scratcher, :/ . All I can say about that is I hope (to god!) we're miscontruing what is meant behind the whole "As a reward I promise I'll have U.S. tour dates soon and other cool news." That makes me feel uneasy because I keep having flashbacks of all those teaser Astralwerks newsletters from 2005 that kept promising more US dates. And those in the US who waited anxiously and missed out on the handful of shows... well, we all know that was a disappointment to say the least...
