just thought id draw everyone's attention to the attention seekers who try and post on this board pretending to have had me contact with the chems. two examples that stick in the mind are the guy claiming to be greg flemming a while back (guitar player on hoops) and the guy claiming to have received an e-mail from tom. now don't get me wrong both these people could, within the realms of possibility, be telling the truth but i am just suspicious that these time wasters are just having a laugh at the expense of the good natured people on this board who believe them. I am especially sceptical about the guy who supposedly received an e-mail from Tom. what is the likelihood of a "superstar dj" randomly e-mailing one of their fans with the chance that they could spread the address around and before he knows it Tom Rowlands is getting 500 obssesive e-mails along the lines of "I love you, I'm your biggest fan..." every day. Sorry about the length of this ramble but I guess from some of antype's posts that he feels the same anyone else find this annoying?

I don't care if people pretend to be the Queen of England, unless they fool everyone.

LOL if they fooled everyone it would be great. (be great too if she's a chems fan....)

And yes, it annoys me. But I just assume they weren't lying (except the Greg thing)
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

I lurk about here more often than I post, and I read every thread and every reply. I think for the most part the people here like GLAKO, antype, chemicalreaction, self excel etc. - the regulars as well as the familiar names that pop up every now and again and have been for a long while - are true to themselves and it shows in what they write (despite all the spam, hehe. ;) ) Not that the one-time posters lack merit of being true to their word, that's not what I mean. It's just that you can often tell when someone's trying to pull your leg and drop names to just get a rise out of people. And really, we all don't *know* each other so I think posts written by people who come here spouting certain claims - those posts need to be taken with a grain of salt. We have opinions and our own truths and knowledge about certain things but as soon as all these ideas are publically displayed in a forum like this one, it's all up for speculation. This doesn't mean I think people are lying, but it does mean that I think some people are either trying to have the last laugh or even more pathetically, are delusional at the expense of those wanting to believe what was written. Not that what I just said made any sense, but I think you know what I mean. ;)

Now as far as the e-mail supposedly written by Tom - I can't say I buy it or that I really care all that much to be honest and that's why I chose not to respond to the speculation. I don't think it was in good taste- quite tacky actually- to post anyone's e-mail addy, regardless of whether or not they are a normal joe or famous, it's still not cool to publically divulge anyone's e-mail address without that person's consent. I can't say I dislike or completely mistrust the person that wrote it- the person came back and wrote a nice review of the Chems' dj set and it was good that it was shared amongst people that could appreciate it and to me it's stuff like that that matters most. But I don't understand the need to say "gee look at me look at me, Tom e-mailed me and here's all the info and blah blah blah." I'm with dope coil on this one - but I'm also with self excel. If a person wants to come on here with the intent of fooling people or getting their hopes up, and they succeed, well then... the laugh's on us but at least we all really don't *know* each other. ;)

Does it really matter if Tom e-mailed him or not ? I don't care and that Greg guy too. I once fooled Glako and antype into believing that i'ev heard 'Here come the drums' and have it recorded...they were pretty excited about it but when i broke the news that i was just kiddin they were heart broken ( ;-) ).... i got a laugh out of it.

I don't come here to make fun of people(i really don't) or talk about useless shit like - that gurl in the video is hot or whatever - i come here to get my daily dose of chemical news. i wanna be first to get any single or album they release. for me this is personal satisfaction, not getting excited about reading Tom's e-mail or whatever. i know i said it was cool that Tom emailed one of his fans coz it is cool...i mean who wouldn't wanna get an e-mail from the chems and tell everyone about it. shit i have to go ...to be cont.

what a strange strange thread and what even stranger interpretations of me and my actions.

I did get an email from Tom, believe that or not if you choose, I really don't care. When I got home from Sankeys the next day I also had an email from Ed but I didn't shout on about that as it would just seem like bragging. And I did get to meet Tom and Ed down at Sankeys, they seemed really nice, easy going, down-to-earth guys pleased to say Hi to a fan who'd put a lot of effort in getting about 25 clubbing mates from different parts of the country together to see them DJ..... why is this hard to understand?? My view is respect to them for that..... I can't imagine many other "superstars" doing that.

The thing that most impressed me was that they were not at all "up-their-own-arses" superstars like some people in the industry with less than a tenth of their talent are..... I'm thinking J-Lo, Britney and the likes here.

The reason why I posted it all on here is simply because I thought people would be interested in hearing about it..... do you 2 really really think I made all this up to get some attention from people I don't even know?? Get a grip man!

If you wanna see the mail I got from Tom click here -->

http://www.promiseal...&threadid=10824 or just check the FAO Tom & Ed thread I put up originally. You'll notice that I very carefully and deliberately obliterated his email address, and take my word that I haven't divulged his or Ed's address to anyone else.

But think what you like, doesn't affect me in the slightest

well thanks dude, my comments weren't directed at you.... I saw your "i know i said it was cool that Tom emailed one of his fans coz it is cool...i mean who wouldn't wanna get an e-mail from the chems and tell everyone about it" and that's exactly what I mean. If some cynical souls wanna believe I made the whole thing up to impress them.......

What's there to impress ? We don't even know you. So it doesn't really matter if you are telling the truth or not.

P.S. - Would you be kind enough to show us the e-mail you got from Ed. That is if you are telling The Truth.

SeniorChemSi,

I am sorry if what I said may have rubbed you the wrong way. I should not have implied that you were an attention seeker - that was wrong of me to jump to that conclusion. Although your intentions may have been good in your initial post about the e-mail in question, as someone who chooses to partake in an online forum you have to take into consideration how others may feel about your actions - we've seen the jokers (not you per se) before. Especially on the old board. I believe in having a good time and helping to build a fun and informative place to hang with like-minded peeps, but I don't think it's wrong of me or others, to be a little skeptical about certain things that are posted. Read me? If it was anyone else that came here and posted what you did, you might (being hypothetical) take what was said with a grain of salt if the shoe were on the other foot. Anyway, does any of this matter? You say it doesn't but it does because it ushered a response from you. You would not have come here to defend yourself if you didn't care about your credibility which does say alot about a person and is a good thing, imo even though this is only the internet (and I still like your review of Shanky's better. :D ) no, really I don't know why I'm babbling, nobody needs a lecture. Then again, maybe I need to stop watching the news and lighten up. ;) heh. Peace

dope coil would like to apologise to seniorchemsi, your e-mail looks pretty believable now, my earlier comments were written before i had fully seen the context (brave of tom to risk giving his e-mail address out though!) as for "greg flemming" seeing as he hasnt posted since his claims i still dont believe that. i am a veteran of the old board which just descended into endless stupid claims so you have to forgive my natural scepticism. sorry for angering everyone else.

Musiq Man loves you all! Your all my little Chemical Chums!

Re: confusion! confusion!!! by anType (krasnikoff@yandex.ru) on 2-Oct-02

When are they going to use this RED INK to write another message? Or this is the only one?

Re: confusion! confusion!!! by on 5-Oct-02

anType: maybe when they realize how to use it. i think tom has posted a couple messages without the ink (under the names king tom and tom chemical, when he slammed people for slammin' norm and when he talked about playin' live).

When were you on the vmg mailing list? I first subbed in 2000, and it was going strong for another year and a half or so but then the plug was pulled. I miss that old list. Any topic was up for grabs and there was a sort of intimacy there which was cool. It had it's trolls and it's flames but I met some great people as a result of subscribing. The remaining stragglers (myself included) joined another list, this time independent and run by one of the listees - but now the server is down. I suppose us stragglers are Chemical Nomads doomed to a life of wandering internet list servers. *sniff*
