I loved the show!! Ears are still ringing this morning!! I can't wait to see them again!! Only downer it was so HOTT!! It was a thousand degree's in there but I was willing to deal with that for this once in a life time opportunity!! I've been waiting to see them since the mid 90's and it was just AWESOME!! I couldn't have asked for anything to be different! I love the way they did "out of control" and they even did "block rockin beats" which is how I got introduced to the chemical brothers!!

Seriously, the most fantastic show I could have hoped for. I left drenched since it was probably about 110 degrees where we were (close to front, center) but it was so worth it. I loved the visuals! Also, I wish I had a complete setlist for the show but I was too busy enjoying the show to form the necessary mental catalog. While the venue/opener can't top red rocks w/fatboy slim, the actual music was by far the best show of theirs I've seen.

Highlight for me: star guitar. Thanks to Tom & Ed for a fantastic experience! Too bad I had to drive home to St. Louis after the show...my wife and I got home at 7am...just in time to shower and head to work. :(

Work...like I can think about anything but the brothers right now. Ha!

I agree... an amazing show! Everything I could have dreamed it would be and then some. The highlight for me was hearing the Sunshine Underground played live. I honestly never thought that would be one I'd hear. It was a nice suprise. One of my favorite tracks, and it made it so much better cause I wasn't expecting it at all. I was up almost against the stage the entire time so my ears are going to be ringing, Im sure, for at least a week...Great show Tom & Ed! Thanks for the memories!!

alright... since a lot of it was said before,

Pretty fucking amazing.

After getting back from the show and getting some sleep, my ears are still ringing and I don't think that I have totally rehydrated myself (from all the dancing and jumping around in a Very hot enclosed area).

I met quite a few very nice forum members... Becky, Bosco, St. Louis (Joe?), and Dallas (Fish?), and several others.

As far as the show goes:

I hadn't heard ladytron before... and I don't think I will ever have the desire to hear them again. The goth/emo look mixed with random screams just doesn't do it for me. furthermore, it looked like every band member (except for maybe the female bassist, stage right) was completely bored out of their fucking mind. Sorry, if the band isn't into it, I could give two shits.

Then the chemical came on.

The theatre was packed. Bos standing two to my left, some pixie next to him, my g/f in front of me, and becky (nerdcore) standing to my right.

there was a nice little teaser moment, when the lights dimmed, the crowd went wild and then the house music came back on. but it was good seeing the reactions! ( c:

Then the chems came out and got right to it!

Awesome!

Das Spiegal into Sunshine underground was simply stunning and my favorite part of the show. the visuals and the hype was immense and it will be a memory forever burned into my mind. All rights Reversed was pretty phenomenal... and if nothing else, Bosco's face when Star Guitar dropped made the song by itself great. Another classic moment was when bosco realized the poster that was given to him (which for god's sake post a pic -- its a 3 by 4 poster with the image from the "tour trailer" (the eye with the zune logo in the middle) and the tour dates below... but I will leave how he got it to him) could be used as a megaphone. hehe.

Back to the music. honestly, there isn't a lot to say about the music. As always, the music is/was great. there is no doubt about it. but what it really comes down to is the energy the crowd adds to it. Like when Galvanized came in and the crowd all had their hands up (push the button).

When a lul happened and The Chems (primarily Ed)egged on the audience on and the crowd responded with amazing, deafening screams.

During Golden Path, when the beat kicks it up a knotch.... well, you get the idea. The music is always awesome - whether it be in concert or on your mp3 player... but in person, when you have the Bros right there in front of you, with the crowd convulsing, the emotions are too incredible for words. That is what makes the show. Regardless of the heat, people still packed themselves right in front of the stage. People still crowded all the way back to the doors trying to get a good view. I must say... Chicago definitely knows how to party and the Riv is a great venue to do it in.

The visuals are freaking amazing. I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but it almost appears there is gridded screen with LEDs behind it for the actual pictures/videos... and then behind that are a few very powerful lights behind that. Plus some lasers at the front of the stage. Again, I don't know. but what I do know is that the visuals are great. Everyone talks about the robots, and the bouncing dots (which are both pretty sweet), but no one talks about the church floor plans. that was probably one of my favorites right there. They show multiple 1d drawing of church layouts... and then eventually it morphs into you flying through the black and white 3d rooms... AWESOME!

My pix are somewhere in a post above and my other friend will be giving me more (and he is much better with a camera than I)... so look for those in the next few days.

Again, to all the forum crew. It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to the next gig where we can get together.

When the euphoria of the chems coming to town (the US) wears off, keep using the boards. Keep in touch and celebrate not only the chems, but the other bands that make an impression on your life. This is a very supportive community and it is a nice place to call 'home.'

Right on, everybody!! So happy to know you had a good time despite the heat (but hey, the Chems are HOT-HOT-HOT).

I wish I could've been there to see Bosco's face when he heard Star Guitar live for the first time.

Thank you Sethful for a great review. Please do stick around and enjoy the boards, even when it's the off season for the Chems. Come for the tunes, stay for the peeps. It's good stuff. :)

FANTASTIC!!!!

What a night(and morning!)in Chicago.

Bosco, Sethful, Becky and others, it was great meetin' and hangin' with each of you.

My friend Fish and I had a great time.

Bosco and Sethful, thanks so much for sharing your pics and video. The evening goes by so fast and to be able to review it via pictures and video is wonderful.

This online community was just reason to go to the show and "you all" delivered just like The Chemical Brothers.

Thanks again for helping make last night a "10".

Until we Do It Again, Believe and stay on The Golden Path.

Well, where do I start.

6PM

I just get off the "EL" at Lawerence Avenune and headed west towards the Riviera. I pass by the Starbucks looking for the group of forumers but nobody was there. So I walk across the street and get in line, wearing my Bosco shirt proudly. About 10 mins go by and then a yellow cab rolls up. 2 gentleman come out of the cab and come straight towards me to talk to me. Low and behold its ultraill (Joe) and his buddy Fish. We introduce are selves and talk about how none of the other forumers have arived yet. So ultraill and Fish decide depart for some pregame at a local bar across the street, while I stick around and wait. Not a minute later, I get a text message from Sethful, saying he's over at the starbucks, inside.

6:15PM

So I make my way across the street and go inside the Starbucks and immediately spot Sethful and his group, and the also famous, Nerdcore. I introduce myself and grab myself a chair. After chating with Seth and his group, we decide its a good time to get in line.

6:30PM

We cross back over to the Riviera, and I decide to try and sell my extra ticket (my cousin bailed because of work, ended up being a big mistake on his part). The 2nd person I asked bought it right away and I was +$40. Not too much later someone behind me someone says "hey, are you Bosco from the forum?" and I turn around and see a guy with a grey Chemical Brothers shirt that had ask me the question, and I reply with "Why yes, I am." We then introduce ourselves and I find out that its danelf84 (Chad). We stood and talked for a few and then I made my way back up where Seth and his group was waiting in line. Then, Joe (ultraill) and Fish come back and re-introduce their selves to Seth and Nerdcore (Becky). Joe then pulls out his little checklist with about 5 forumer names on it:

Bosco

Chemicalreaction

Sethful

Nerdcore

osufan77

And crosses us off his list :P

7PM

They start letting us in. No ID check so minors really shouldnt have had a problem. And as we walk in and get frisked, I spot the merchandise table. Of course I go straight over to the desk and check out the few goodies. I noticed an awesome tour poster that was hanging infront of the desk, and asked the lady at the desk if they were selling these. She said "no", and explained that its just for display. So then I looked up at the shirts and spoted the We Are The Night shirt and purchased one. So as I walked back towards the entrance of the theatre room I turned around and went back to the merchandise desk and ask the lady "would it be possible for me to buy the poster from you or even get it after the concert". And then she says "you know what, just take it." Shockingly, I reply with " are you sure?" Then she says " yeah, its better you get it now then someone taking it later". So I begin to start taking it down from the merchandise desk, and repeatively thank her. (I should have tipped her for the favor, Im such a dumbass). So I go back to Sethful and his group and brag to them what I just got. I attempt to try and roll up the poster, but its a thick paper and wasnt working well. I got a few small rubber bands from the bartender to try and keep it rolled up, but they instantly snaped. So I decided to just hold the thing firmly.

As we walk around outside the door of the theatre, I spot another desk with a T-Shirt press thingy. I notice it says "Do It Again" on the shirts and instead of waiting and buying one I just assumed I would just get one out in San Francisco (which was a big mistake, since I later found out they were also printing the particular venue on the shirt). As I was walking away a saw a chick that was kinda in charge of promotions with brand new posters of the one I was carrying ( mine had sticky tack and tape on it). She spoted the poster I had, and rather yelling at me and asking me where I got it from, she calmly ask if I would trade with her for a new poster, and of course I did.

So, I again rolled up my new poster, and finally realized that I should just tie my t-shirt around the poster, which turned out to work perfectly. And although the poster was the coolest thing I brought home last night, it was the biggest nuisance to carry around since it was so big.

We enter the theatre and stake are spot right next to the first rail on the 1st tier of the lower part of the theatre (perfect spot for filming/pictures).

We continue to talk, drink, and take pictures waiting for the show to begin.

8PM

Ladytron start. They really didnt do anything special for me either, although the lead singer is really hot. I start to think to myself when is Chemicalreaction is gonna get here? He never gave me his cell phone number, he said he would call me when he got there. So I assumed he just might be a little late.

8:30PM

Half way thru Ladytron. The Theatre is nearly packed, I was quite suprised. Also this is when the pixy girl, as Seth described ( ) annoyingly moved her way inbetween Seth and Me.

8:45PM

Ladytron finishes. Temperature in theatre is about 1000 degrees. Everyone is sweating. I was dying for something to drink, but I didnt wanna lose my spot.

9PM Lazers get tested, for the Chemical Brothers set. Still wondering where Chemicalreaction is.

9:10PM

Starting to worry about Chemicalreaction. Hoping nothing bad happened. They shut off all the lights and the backround music and everyone cheers. It turns out to just be a tease, and they turn the lights back on. Starting to get extremly excited, yet very sweaty.

9:15

First, too the Chemicalreaction:

I dont know what happened to you, but I hope you made it ok. Im very dissapointed we didnt meet up, but Im just hopping your safe. Im kinda worried since you never gave me a call. But please dont be embarassed to show your face on the forum cause you didnt meet up with us at the venue.

Second to the People I met:

Becky aka Nerdcore:

I cant believe I met you. Your name gets thrown around here everytime we talk about old forum members. It was a pleasure. I was hoping to say "goodbye" but I dont know where you went after the show.

Joe (ultraill) and his friend Fish:

Believe it or not, you two are the first chemical Brothers forumers that I met. And just so everyone knows, these two are Chemical LEGENDS, they've been following the Brothers tour ever since DIG YOUR OWN HOLE and have only missed the PUSH THE BUTTON tour. You guys need to pop up and talk on the forum more often. Great guys, I hope to meet you at another chemical gig in the future.

danelf84 aka Chad:

Dude, Im glad you saw my shirt and asked if I was me :P Dont be a stranger to the forums man, talk it up my friend. Top notch guy. Come up for the UNKLE gig!!!!!!!

Sethful:

What can I say, this guy is pure class. Nice, is a total understatement. You need to stay on this forum. We gotta hang out and catch another show, or just do a few drinks. Your friends and GF were awesome too, tell them thanks for being awesome.

To Tom and Ed:

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You made my dreams come true. I hope you guys had a great time in Chicago, because I know Chicago had a great time while you were here. Great selection in Venues, The Riviera was beyond perfect. Im sorry for ever critizing you on any of your music especially "DO IT AGAIN". I Take it all back. Im a believer. FUCKING AWESOME! THANK YOU THANK YOU A THOUSAND TIMES OVER! IM NOT WORTHY!!!!!!!!

Important things I noticed:
