It was a yakuza flick, it had the guy with all the fucked up piercings in his face and the otaku police assassin guy named Ichi.

BEAT TAKESHI!

yes, he rules.... Over here they play that old Japanese show, Takeshi's Castle, but they redub all the dialogue to make it even funnier than the original (if that's possible)

I actually thought The Ring was a pretty good movie (I haven't seen the original.)

It's a weird story. But it's related.

When The Ring came out for rent, stash and I had his sister and husband over. That's what we do on weekends when we don't have a sitter for the night. We really like having people over for dinner and a few drinks and a movie. So we had this huge, big screen television that was a hand-me-down from my parents. God only knows how old the set was, but it was cool - a Sony massive, monolithic thing that took up a huge portion of our livingroom wall. We found it's a great thing to have a good tv, because everyone would just come on over and watch a movie at our house.

So anyway. Dinner's done, we've had a few drinks, and it was movie time. We put The Ring into the dvd player, pressed play, and our television screen sort of flashed with a 'pop' noise, then died. It wouldn't turn on or off. It just sat there, dead. (turned out later it couldn't be fixed, so we had to get a new tv - our new one's actually much better)

So yeah, that night we ended up huddled around the computer, watching The Ring. And wasn't it ironic that in the story, if you watch the video, you die. I think our television was trying to tell us something when it flashed out it's final electrical surge!

Thank goodness we only rented the movie.

I'd be afraid to rent the film again, because I think that film must be a bad mojo. Seriously. It will be a long while before we could replace the television we have now!
