I mean come on, not everyone can be as good as the chemical brothers....but give daft punk a little credit. Im sorry they didnt satisfy your appetiate for "good music" every time they released an album, but that doesnt mean they are complete trash. Yes, i agree that "homework" is their best work, but like the chemical brothers, they wanted to switch things up and try new things a bit after exit planet dust/dig your own hole. And yes i agree that daft punk was not as succesful in transitioning into a new realm of music like the chemical brothers. However, Some people enjoyed "Discovery" (a pop orientaded album) and some people didnt (you, and im sure many in this forum). Same goes for "Surrender" (yes, another pop orientated album)some people liked it and some people didnt (slipvin, and im sure many others, especially who loved dig your own hold/ exit planet dust). Now i didnt really wanna compare daft punk and the chemical brothers, but i thought it was appropriate for the matter. I'll tell you what, if daft punk crashes and falls again like they did with "human after all" ill be right behind you in your opinion towards daft punk. But, as of right now i dont feel your giving them enough credit.
and yes i agree with just about everyone that the lineup at coachella sucks this year.....however, it might just be worth it to see daft punk, who might never ever perform live again..... at least thats my opinion

That's a very well thought out and nuanced position, and as such it has no place on the internet. ;-)

Oh, and those past Coachellas look so fantastic my brain was starting to go into a happy-siezure thinking about having The Chems, Fatboy, and Prodigy all play at one show. 8O

It kinda depends what they play live... if its mostly HAA, then, yeah, it will probably be a suck-gasm (not the good way either). But if its anything like Alive '97, which I have been getting into alot lately, that might be really awesome
to tell you the truth i would be interested to see some HAA songs live, if they could mix them into their set with some of their older songs i dont see it being all that bad. However if they just lay it out, HAA song after HAA song, i agree that would be the suck.

Either people love them or hate them - but unanimously agree that Homework is a good album.
Anyway, the live aspect can really put things into perspective. There's some things that work out better in a live setting than they do on ab album. Maybe the same will hold for Daft Punk, but I won't be at Coachella this year to find out.

i totally agree
and i hope on daft punk's part, if they decide to make this their last live performance, that they at least record the event for a later release dvd. So that people who never had the chance to see them live will be able to purchase the experiance for $15/20.

But Daft Punk and perhaps Tool aside, there isn't an absolute must-see band among the headliners or subheadliners. I mean, I want to see Franz Ferdinand (and likely will here in Winnipeg), Sigur Ros, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Scissor Sisters, Bloc Party, et al, but not enough to travel several thousand miles.
Last year I got to see lots of bands at that level but knowing that if they sucked, I was going to see Nine Inch Nails, New Order, the Prodigy, and the Chems. (The fact that NIN and New Order were letdowns is besides the point....).

living in aus means i kind of have to adapt to the fact that perhaps 1, maybe 2 HUGE bands tour here so i kind of tend to lean towards and listen to more of the smaller ish bands.

haha, i bet you thought push the button was an awesome album. piss off
Not only was Push the Button better than anything that Daft Punk could ever even hope to do, frankly Tom & Ed's day-after beer binge curry farts sound better than anything Daft Punk could ever even hope to do...

wow, bagging out someones music tastes because your a narrow minded fuckwit. there's something new
i guess we'll both just have to agree that your a giant idiot.
Listen kid, my tastes in music are as broad as your mom's ass, and just as deep, I've been into electronic music since it was called 'experimental', and I was going to raves when you were still in diapers, so shut your mouth, watch the tone that you use when you speak to your betters.

maybe you should stop going to your shitty raves and take time to realise what a fraud you are, and come to terms with your sexuality too

i dont judge a lineup by how many big, commercial bands there are, i judge it by how much it appeals to me. so far, this one is the most appealing of them all.

Unless you live in Alice Springs, I can guarantee that I see as few top-calibre acts through here as you do in Oz. I love smaller bands that nobody around here has heard of...
... but the fact of the matter is that despite seeing many a good show, I've yet to see anyone match what the Chems and the Prodigy put out for performances last year at Coachella. Period. And I can scarcely imagine anyone doing so.
Other than the fact that I wish good artists success, I could care less about how well a band sells albums. I'm not generally a fan of "commercial" music, but sometimes, just sometimes, bands deserve to have big names and big reputations. The headliners and subheadliners of past Coachellas deserve those reps far more than this years.
As for who performs during the day, they have good bands every year at Coachella and this year is no exception. My money on best lineup is still the Saturday in 1999, though.

As for the little piss-fest on here ...... Can we get back to photoshopping movie posters, please?

... and got the 17 year olds I work with started on it, too.
Very versatile word, especially considering the fact that since the movie is reportedly quite good, it can be used as a compliment:
"Dude, how's that girl you pulled at the bar?" "Man, she is SOOOOO brokeback!"
