 Thought so... ah well.

Maybe the authority will drop by sometime and help me clean up the mess I made out of that post.

If you've got some time to kill - there's a massive thread you can check out that chronicles the world premier of Do It Again (the version that doesn't have the Let's Turn This Thing Electric that we are all so familiar with now.

Have fun! http://www.thechemic...age&replies=905

OK, I couldn't figure out which particular Do It Again thread to put this in (and this thread is strangely "broken" on pages 1 and 2).

But anyway, on the GTA4 soundtrack there's this song by Electric Funk called On A Journey. The chorus is "I sing the funk electric". The chorus is sung in the same tempo, in an almost monotone way the same as Do It Again. The full title of this song by Electric Funk is called On A Journey (I Sing The Funk Electric) and it came out in 1982.

This is not a fucking-animal-in-Eric's-house moment - Allie Love definitely sings "I sing the funk electric" in the early pre-album release versions of Do It Again including the extended mix that was circulating on the radio and elsewhere. The lyrics changed to "Let's turn this thing electric" when the single and album were released. I wonder if this Electric Journey is why the Do It Again lyrics were changed...

*edit - damn broken thread. Yes, on page 3, Martin mentioned this. But yeah, the On A Journey tune is on the GTA4 soundtrack, it's a bit slow around here, and all of a sudden Do It Again seems new again. :D

Yeah, this is a dusty topic. Anyways, I've always speculated that copyright issues forced a change and part of the album delay. Will never forget the first time I heard the revised version and had that "wait, this ain't right" look on may face.

My girlfriend and I agree--the "I sing the funk electric" works so much better...

And Biff, I believe you are, indeed, correct, much as you always are you smart-ass-pants.
