Well C.B. saved the show again, it was flat until they got on stage. Tons of technical problems and the stage was set up last minute with problems flowing though out. At least they got it all fixed before C.B. started. Also the crowd didn't move at all until they started. The DJs of night seemed to play alot of trancey slow tracks and not enough beat pounding bass trips. I was there from start to finish and won't be attending anymore Ultra shows if the next one goes like this. The good points of the day do include a great crowd with no issues and the W.M.C. and Crobar tents were slammin' all night. I was able to hand out some of my CDs to the crowd and that went well, even one of the W.M.C. DJs took one. All in all at least it didn't rain us out that day.

I kinda felt bad for the Bros tonight at Ultra. The screen was all fucked up so the show behind them basically wasn't there. It was out of focus too. What was strange, funny, and scary all at the same time was every now and then the whole crowd of enveloped in fog, like the thickest possible, so you couldnt see a thing for about 20 seconds at a time. I mean you couldnt literally see in front of you with Under the Influence blaring. Suprisingly, they ended "early" skipping a track before TPR, and skipping TPR all together. They ended with Chemical Beats. Overall sound was good.

I agree with the first guy, the show was poorly staged until the chems started playing. Although the visuals effed up halfway through their set, the brothers still worked it out. Everyone was dancing/hands in the air. We were pretty much sober and saw a good response after they started playing. Ultra has waxed cheezy and commercial in some ways, we could have done without the strip club DJ trying to hype up the crowd between sets. We flew from Tennessee to watch this guy in a tank top (900 miles) spit all over the crowd. Aside from tech/mc problems, it was a grand occasion. New York is huge and the diversified culture rocks! I love it.

21p I am glad you enjoyed NY! The crowd was maybe the best possible NY crowd for a festival style show. The people were chill, the place was dry and clean, and the sound amazing. Oh, and the transition from Morning Lemon - Get Yourself High was immense, as was the transition into Block Rockin Beats. They also played a little bit of Leave Home, not just the opening guitar lick, but the bass and new drums for the track. That was clearly my highlight, that song is so much better live.

I am glad I got to enjoy the chemical brothers in beautiful central park. I just wish it would have lasted longer, I could have stayed and listened to the chems all night.
I posted a few videos that I took on my website:

I really kind of felt bad for Paul Oakenfold, Timo Maas and Mylo. Chemical Brothers really saved the night!
Yeah, despite their blurry visuals during and everything after Under the Influence/It doesn't matter (I miss those crazy robots :'() their live set went on without a hitch. Block Rockin' Beats NEVER sounded better live too. Actually it was kind of cool to have them carry on without the visuals, this proves that their strength lies in their music.
Good one tweaker with those videos!

Yeah Friday night was amazing. I've been wanting to see the Bros. for years and man was it worth the wait! The sound was 8,000,000,000 times better than it was for Oakenfold - glad I got to see him at M.O.S. in Bangkok in '02.
Some people were overwhelmed by the fog machine but I thought it added a really wild atmosphere. There you are rockin out in a crowd of people and the next moment you are alone, hidden in your own shroud of smoke, while around you are silhouettes pumping to the bass!
What a blast - it beat my already high expectations! Thanks Bros!

BoldCaptain recorded the NYC Ultra show and has posted a torrent in the Live Downloads thread:

Big thanks to BoldCaptain for recording the show! I have downloaded it already and it sounds pretty damn good for an audience recording.

Yeah I was suprised both at the quality and how fast is was available online. It's a lot like the Coachella setlist but with many enjoyable surprises. The Morning Lemon filler into Get Yourself High was a nice touch and Block Rockin' Beats sounded huge! Thanks again Ed & Tom, here's to many more good shows!
