So off in a week to London for 4 days and heading to all three Brixton gigs, any recommendations for places should head to that aren’t the obvious places? Obviously heading to record shops etc so any cool places I should check out let me know.
And if anyone has a spare Thursday chemicals ticket I need one for myself so if you have one contact me as I really don’t like buying off touts outside the venue.

Hey prochem, there's a big Virgin store right in Piccadily, but they have those stores just about everywhere. The one in Piccadily is quite large with q good selection and worth a trip if it's your first time in London and don't mind being in one of the most tourist-trap areas in the city.
I think irishfan's probably looking for more unique record stores. I saw some off the beaten path when I was in Camden but I couldn't remember the names if my life depended on it.

Tate Modern's always worth a visit - free, and there's a great bar on the top floor which gives a great view of the Thames and across London.
Alternatively, given I'm from Glasgow, you could forget the hype of London and head north for the day... try the mp3 here. Was a spoof from the woman who does London Underground voiceovers.

When we were in London last time, most of our money went to food - thank god for the Tesco Express, the local bakery/coffee shop, Burger King and Waitrose because the alternative (eating in a sit down restaurant 3 meals a day) was just too much.
There was a tasty pub near where we stayed that had some of the best fish n'chips I've ever had. With mushy peas, too. My meal was the equivalent of 18 US dollars. That's nuts for pub grub!
We'd read about Nando's and found one in Paddington whereabouts near where my cousin lived. So we hopped over there after our visit with her and that was a good n'tasty and affordable meal. Then we walked through the Russian district and found a liquor store that sold absinthe, heh.
Oh! A place in London that's a great place to grab breakfast is this joint called Chelsea Kitchen. Fond memories of that place, it's been around for ages. I was so happy I could take stash there, he dug it! Simple food, ample portions and you can't beat the price.
Sigh... I'm really not too much of a foodie, I like to grab a bite and be on my merry sightseeing way when I'm out and about. But a good meal is a good meal nontheless. One of these days I hope to blow a wad of cash at the Bombay Brassery. It's a tad bit out of my league now, but one day one day...
