Chems Forum CD

I seem to have completely missed the discussion over distribution methods. I know some people wanted to get a cd through mail but I always assumed that there would be an online release to accompany it.
I'm not attacking chemicalfan or anyone else here and I'm sorry if my writing gave that impression. All the work you have done for the cd is highly appreciated.
But I'm still going to ask for someone to upload the record (and the final artwork!) online. Would online release be detrimental in any way to our efforts?
The argument that mp3 compressed tracks would sound like crap is not valid. The quality of sound is subjective, but you can get a near-perfect approximation by using good enough encoder with fitting options.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3 (the part about the quality of mp3, talks about which bitrates are thought of achieving transparency in data compression)
http://en.wikipedia...._compression%29
The real question is, do we want to give this record to the wide public or forum locals only?

What we really need is a vote on this: Online or CD? (HINT to surface2air)
In the meantime, the tracklist:
Whirlygirl - Back To Womb
Csar - Microcosm
Mippio - Golf sale in Wisconsin
Neon Disease - Take two
Soundertow - A Peasant Journey
Neon Disease - Destiny dude
Reaction - Level 1
Chrisman - Substance, maelstrom and subject
Slipvin - Irrational behaviour
Consumer - Machines in danger
Whirlygirl - Recurrance
I'll be posting CDs this weekend to those that have supplied addresses. If you want to be in this batch, PM me your address (I've only got 3 so far!)

the thinking behind it was it was by the forum for the forum. as such we wanted it to be a bit special and send out the whole package, not have an MP3 version of it.
im (personally) really not bothered about getting this mix to a wider audience - that wasnt really the intention in the first place, and i stand by that now.
if all that sounds a bit cliquey or whatever im sorry. but it wa just a fun thing to do by a bunch of people who hang out in the same place (electronically) - and if people REALLY want to hear it they know who they have to PM etc
BUT - at the same time, if people want to put it online i have no objections to that. at the end of the day, like you say there will be people on the forum who will give it a listen, but wouldnt want to pay. which is totally fair enough.
but i think a vote would be the best way to go about it.
me, im gonna sit on the fence - so im an abstain hahaha.
(ps - i hope the above doesnt sound harsh, its cool for people to have different opinions, and its quite nice we can discuss this like sensible adults) :D
peace!

Although I had nothing to do with this project I would just like to stay that its worth paying for to get the whole package. The music is all of a high quality as is all the artwork. Much better than some cds on the shop shelves. I even payed in alcohol!

Yeah, I have to say the quality of the artwork, production, entire package is top-notch. This is something I'm glad I have in a real, corporeal form. It sits proudly with the rest of my CD collection.
I've only listened to about half of the disc so far, but I've been digging what I've heard a lot. You peeps did a top notch job!!!

Aww, thanks Jeanie! The mixing took ages, but I must add it was a pleasure to be working together with Mips to bring this CD to all you guys. And thanks to everyone that contributed to the CD (without you, there would be no CD!).
And yeah, Chrisman's track is a gorgeous little deep techno number, really pulsing and evil! 8)
