Am I the only one who hears overtones of Queen in Muse's track for the Olympics?

Yeah Muse have always cited Queen as an influence though it shows only on Resistance - listen to United States of Eurasia.

Brian May and Roger Taylor have been very vocal fans since a long time.. here's something I used in a writeup long back on Muse fans:
""Brian May and Roger Taylor (Brian May interviewed at the Kerrang Awards 2001 he said he was playing Origin Of Symmetry non-stop for weeks, he once said "Muse are "extraordinary musicians" who "let their madness show through, always a good thing in an artist.), Roger Taylor and Brian May presented the 02 Silver Clef Award to Muse and said " this is probably the greatest live act in the world today"

I would have been surprised if we had heard the track before. Since it's music written for a special event I'm sure there's a contract somewhere with a paragraph which states that the music shall not be released before the official release date.

I don't have cable tv so I haven't figured out how I'm going to watch the cycling event... I haven't looked into online streaming streaming of the Olympics yet - plus there's the whole being-8-hours-behind-the-UK thing. Does anyone plan on capturing the cycling event and uploading it somehow? I'd love to see how it all plays out as it was meant to, during the games. But am afraid I might miss it when it airs live.

Looking forward to hearing and getting the brand spankin new track, though!!

I remember watching live stream of events through the internet during the Beijing Olympics. I think it was through the NBC Sports website or something. But I cant recall if you're required to show that you're a costumer of a cable company to access it.

IMO I think some events (the major ones like track & field, gymnastics, etc )you can watch, but the others like fencing or archery, you might have to login as a customer of the cable service

On my cable (ATT), I have six channels for London 2012. the track cycling schedule for me is Aug 5 at 1am!

On this page you should find a working live stream of the events, unfortunately only in shitty quality.
