Maybe that's because Sonar is a festival.

It looks bigger on other videos. It just looked small on this video.

still travelling back from barcelona right now.

barcelona is indeed a very nice city like a southern berlin mixed together with amsterdam (weed smoke everywhere).

this years line up at and around sonar where just mindblowing. everyone was there. on Thursday I saw tiga AND boys noize in the same club. sweaty as ever after them.

on friday I saw LCD soundsystem (for the first time) and I liked them a lot. I'm bit dissapointed that the chems weren't playing on Friday cause the vibe was more peaceful and relaxed, also the people weren't lacking of energy on Friday either (Including me and my friends).

another highlight for me was 2manydjs and their ?prerecorded? superhits mashup. funny sunny visuals all the way.

btw: I hit Richie hawtin frontal during a autoscooter madness at the sonar venue.

on sat we went earlier to catch a good place for chemies. right before I saw dizzie rascal and caspa. dizzie was something like average mc doing crookers, not my thing. caspa was huge as ever doing some dirty dubstep tracks. what a shame that caspa was maybe the loudest on Saturdays mainfloor.

right after caspa, the chem UFO hits the stage. it was so cool to see it again after some years! 15 min later tomorrow never knows began....

but no goosebumps because something went wrong with the sound. if u never heard TNK it would have been kinda hard to even recognize it.

then snow: I think they shorten it a bit for festival shows. and again no sound at all. I was so ready to feel snows brutal sub bass but I just could hear some little sound but no experience.

next fail: the ice gun effect. when Caroline dives into the water all of us could hear the ice gun but nothing more, just annoying noise so that u couldn't here anything for about a minute.

did they begin that quiet at the roundhouse?

I was really dissapointed. also the fact that Saturday was kinda Spanish geezers night didn't change my bad feelings at all :(

when EV drops somebody found the master EQ and finally where as loud as ever. the played the same set like the roundhouse ones. the crowd went crazy during EV and some kind of acid version of horse....power! also dissolve worked really well. the whole further tracks worked very well at sonar. they also did some cool variations on tracks. swoon (niiiice live!) f.e. they lay some kind of dubsteppish noise over it. hopefully we can see this on YouTube.

after a quick break t&e returned and they did a good job. they played the roundhouse setlist. and it worked so good. people jumping or singing the lines of hbhg or ooc. nice! ooc into setting sun is so huge live.

unfortunately after hbhg some assholes stole the iphone out of it's poket. in general I thought barca has some kind of a crime problem. so for my dude the party was over...I was dancin till the end around those spanish crime / geezer / guys. chemical beats at the end was mindblowing. everybody was so out of control and jumping around. and toms outro was also impressive. thx for this awesome show.

hopefully they will release this acid re edit of horse power in near future.

to sum it up: I had a good time with some of my best friends here. chems were great as ever but unfortunately not some in the crowd. further works well live too.

from now I'm looking forward to a "real" chemshow" in 2011

and now I'm so tired I can't even focuss on my display!!!!

over and out....

nice review. something about concerts bring out some really obnoxious/seedy people. Not as bad here, but last show I went to (Caribou) some guy snaked his way to the front and this lady (half his size) gave him the "bitch you did not cut in front of me" speech. It was beautiful... Ironically Coachella was the only show I went to where I don't recall having to deal with that shit, a bunch of polite college-age hipsters :geek:

Thanks for the review, brother ging - this was the Chems first festival show for Further so hopefully they'll get the Tomorrow Never Knows and Snow sorted out sound-wise. I'm so glad to hear Further is working out so well live. And that there are variations of the tracks to shake things up!!

A shame about the scummy people you experienced and the phone theft. Spain is known for its crime and I guess festival goers are easy targets which is sad.

Anyway - thanks again for taking the time to post your review as you must've been so exhausted!

This is what I was talking about in another thread--I hope either a live version of Horsepower shows up, or this alternate mix appears on the bonus site whenever that gets sorted out with the correct 320kbps mp3s.

I came forward to read forumers experiences during the festival and now I find this ...Posted Image

Very, very sad to hear this kind of semi-fascist comments, it´s so intolerant and insulting...

Friends and family have suffered this kind of behavior in many countries (including the U.S., who seem to live beyond good and evil) and I have never heard such prejudicial comments...

After all I think it wasn´t a good idea to participate in this forum...

what are you, made of glass?

Yes, I agree with you this certainly is not a practice that is isolated in Spain (and Whirly will too). But before anyone goes and calls out our lovely forum Mommy, I'm fairly certain there is good reason or some sort of life experience backing Whirly's comment. So to save you the pain Guerra, you're barking up the wrong tree.

PS. I'm sorry about the incident Ging

Woah - sorry for the fascist comment there, man. I didn't mean to insult there.

Just going by what I experienced first hand when I was in Spain. I never said this didn't occur anywhere else.

That´s no reason to generalize in such a drastical way. Spain is known for zillions of things and reasons, and not only for the crime. I´m not just saying this isn´t happening here, but you can´t judge an entire country for a lamentable incident.

I am sorry to generalize in such a drastic way and that you are so sensitive to such remarks you play the fascist card. I did not intend to offend you or anyone with what I said with regard to crime in Spain.

Take my apologies or leave it.

I take your apologies.

i just wanted to remark that generalizations are a dangerous weapon and seed the way to hate and prejudice. I would have been offended the same way if any other country had been named.

I agree sweeping statements and generalization can be dangerous.

On the positive side (and to make another generalization that is hopefully less harmful) I found the men in Madrid to be quite handsome. ;-)

Peace

don't want to sound fascist, BUT  the days in barcelona i felt a bit unconfident especially at night. i can say that i have been to many cities (berlin, amsterdam, london, and so on) but this barca experience was kinda weird. i get ripped off by every taxi driver (every time 10 euros too much). i got ripped off in every liquor store and was checking out by many people in way i can't describe. every night "carteristas/cannons" where running through the narrow streets. i can understand some of this people cause spain is nearly broke (like greece). anyway, i had a good time in barcelona and i love this city and it's people. but this time it was rougher than before, so much poor people which perhaps could have been increased the crime rate a bit.

only my expectations.

btw: it was sooo funny when we went to el prat airport and did the advert of loss for the iphone. some guardia civil cop gave as goooood advice for sonar in a bad english while laughing (he was kinda chilled): never go to sonar with iphone, never go to sonar with bag.

great time.good gear.awesome acts.unbelievable chems show.a stolen iphone.

that was my barcelona experience.

so, the setlist was almost the same as in Roundhouse? it makes me a little bit disappointed
two weeks before Balaton Sound... Further is great, especially the first three tracks on it,
but I'd rather listen to Star Guitar, Surface to Air, Galvanize (the highlights of the WATN set)
again than the whole Further album. OMG, Setting Sun, the worst CB song :(
hoping that there is a little chance that setlist may vary until 9th july..

Let me tell you: recently, I saw how a bunch of big drunk American students were mocking and vexing a boy with Down syndrome, till some guy ran over them and made them escape. It was one of the most shameful and coward acts of cruelty I´ve had the disgrace to witness.
I felt very sorry, not for the boy, but for the families of those guys. Because I want to believe (error, I know) that all Americans aren´t that stupid.

Spain is living right now a terrible nightmare, and it doesn´t appear we will wake up very soon. And that leads good people into bad things. I don´t justify them, but I thought it wasn´t fair to picture us like a group of scummy bandits. We´re more than that.

Come on guys, he made a very fair point- please don't be racist by making sweeping generalizations- Insulting him further by implying he's too sensitive is a bit low.

I disagree--people talk shit about the U.S. all the time, but I don't get all butt-hurt and call people bigoted.

Spain is a great country, but relax--it has it's faults. Save your bigot labels for when it matters.
