I really slacked with buying albums this year... However, I saw quite a bit of shows this year so I'll just mention the best ones I saw.
Chemical Brothers- Chicago (Illinois), Riviera Theatre
Chemical Brothers- San Francisco (California), Concourse
Chemical Brothers- L.A. (California) Nocturnal Wonderland
Rage Against The Machine- Indio (California), Coachella Festival
Rage Against The Machine- East Troy (Wisconsin), Alpine Valley
Daft Punk- Morrison (Colorado), Red Rocks Amphitheater
Daft Punk- Chicago (Illinois), Lollapalooza
Muse- Chicago (Illinois), Lollapalooza
Soulwax- Chicago (Illinois), The Metro
Soulwax- Indio (California), Coachella Festival
Gogol Bordello- Chicago (Illinois), The Vic
Flaming Lips- Madison (Wisconsin), Southern Comfort Music Festival
Cornelius- Indio (California), Coachella Festival
Justice- Indio (California), Coachella Festival
Hot Chip- Indio (California), Coachella Festival
Bjork- Indio (California), Coachella Festival
Busy P and DJ Mehdi- Indio (California), Coachella Festival
Shows that were terrible:
Happy Mondays- Indio (California), Coachella Festival {wanted to like it, but it was a trainwreck!!! Still love "Pills N Thrills & Bellyaches" very much so. }
Of Montreal- Chicago (Illinois), The Metro (so GHEY. Although like the Happy Mondays I still like their studio work.)
Sebastian and Kavinsky- Denver (Colorado), Milk Bar. {They Dj'd the same exact songs that they did earlier in the day opening for Daft Punk at Red Rocks, only they fucked up a lot more. I enjoy their producing skillz, but they're terrible DJ's.}

Must check out that Alabama 3! Damn, I love them. I love those whiskey lipped vocals, gritty and velvety at the same time. Tight band live, too.
Hey Bosco, did you know the lead singer of Gogol Bordello is going to be in some directed by... Madonna... I swear. It's called Filth & Wisdom and I want to see it. I hope it's good (though Madonna anywhere near film is almost guaranteed to be a disaster). Eugene Hutz is actually a pretty good actor - as seen in Everything Is Illuminated.
As for albums of the year, I haven't been as on top of it as I should have. I'd say top picks are the Chems (big surprise, I know you're all just like, totally floored by that revelation!!!) and LCD Soundsystem. Oh, and the re-release of the remastered Joshua Tree and b-sides. I quite dug Willie Mason, too. Listened to a bit of Flaming Lips "At War With the Mystics" and Primal Scream "Riot City Blues" which is very Rolling Stonesy and very loud. Also thoroughly enjoyed The Fruitbats "Mouthfuls", heh.
Highlights of the year were making it to 13 years of marriage (yay!!) and of course going to Nocturnal - everything about that night was so wonderful beginning to end.
That said I'm a bit sad to see 2007 go. But here's to another year that awaits!

Well isn't Madonna and Eugene like really good friends in the first place? So it's not too surprising to see him working with Madonna. But yeah, Madonna and movies don't mix well at all.
And i've only seen the ending part of that movie with Eugene Hutz in it. I know they play it on HBO, but I keep missing it.
P.S. thanks for mentioning Flaming Lips, I totally forgot I saw them this year and added them to my list! It was one of the best shows outside of the Chems I have ever seen! And to top it off, I got to see them for FREE!

Everything Is Iluminated is a good flick, not really a laugh a minute but Eugene Hutz has the best line ever "many women want to be carnal with me because I'm such a premium dancer". hahaha, good flick, rather touching and a bit sad to be honest.
So, did the Flaming Lips come out dressed as furries when you saw them??
I'd love to catch them live sometime. I dig Wayne Coyne to pieces.

Yup, and right from the start Wayne was in the giant bubble, surfing the crowd.
I cant remember if he brought out the giant hands.... But yeah, I want one of those confetti cannons he's got!
And to tell you the truth I was considering flying out to Oklahoma to catch their NYE show. But I couldn't find a friend to go with....I'm kinda tired of traveling by myself.

Same here!!
Still managed to see Air (Manchester Academy), Calvin Harris, Kate Havnevik, Daft Punk (all at o2 Wireless Festival, Leeds), Simian Mobile Disco (twice- at o2 festival and Chems support act) and The Chems in Manchester though, so quite pleased. The only thing that was missing for me last year was a Chemical Meet-up!! ;)

^ I remeber Glako mention the common album as well. I tottally forgot about that album. I enjoyed listening to that at work last year working at HMV. Nice to play some alternative though sometimes socially acceptable Hiphop.
