Really..? I don't like them much...

I'd rather drop 1000USD for a set of nice speakers.

I just have some shitty sony head phones that came with an old walkman.

Glad somebody said it first! ;)

My headphones are shitty, too. As a matter of fact, they are so shitty, I don't even know what brand they are.

They sure are comfortable, though. The sound ain't great but it's better than the flimsy little earphones that get all earwaxy and stuff. I like the big cans that go over the entire ear. They serve a purpose: nobody has to hear me make music, and when my husband's on the computer I don't have to hear him blowing shit up in his games.

All's good but I would like a decent set of headphones one of these days... after I upgrade my soundcard.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

EBW: you need incredibly awesome headphones as well as a sweet, kickin' set of speakers.

Not always true. It depends how you want to hear the music. You get a different sound from both, so as Glako said, good set of speakers and a good set of headphones is essential.

the only time you would need headphones is if you were djing or you didnt want your music to disturb others. I do not have to meet either of those requirements.

You cannot hear the fine details you can hear on headphones with a stereo. Unless you have a top of the line surround system, headphones are the way to go for sound details.
