Welcome eveybody!

good day so far. Missed all you chemheads since the EBW 10 orgy! I just started listening to Hot Chips' "Made in the Dark" and im REALLY digging this album (even though it came out last Feb)Hmm where to start!

R.I.P. George

@whirly

I went to the one in Orange County! Not my usual type of hangout but i did score 5 mill on Galaga! I did see KOK but im not sure if your aware that Billy got a new record not to long ago after the film came out in DVD. that pissed me off when i heard that! Glad your doing ok.

@VorpalStorm

hey bro,as soon as you get a couple of weeks in classes knocked down, upload some of your quicktime-rendered CGI creture creations!(and wireframe too!)

tournaments! i remember doing a 'Bomberman' tournament in a mall a long time ago...and actually won! They gave me a Turbo-Duo system (for you classic gamers out there,its a Turbo-Grafx 16 + CD-ROM built in!)and EGM magazines.

I had better reflexes back then!

@pooter

nice plug for WATN!

"and he wears the shirt with pride people"

yep! too much video games + school= bad grades! I remember ditching my senior year too much in high school beacuse of Street Fighter 2. I was forging my Mom's signature to excuse myself from class just to play the damn game. After so many no-shows for my classes, I found out I was failing 3 classes in order to graduate. I barely got my Diploma and still can't figure out how I graduated.

After seeing your vid Pooter, it kind of reminded me of me in college when I was in Long Beach State playing the Playstation or the arcades. it took me awhile to figure out that hanging out with my friends were more important than video games, and beacuse of that,and because of too many 'W' in my classes,i trashed all my systems (NES,SNES,SMS,GENESIS,N64,TG16-PS,DC,etc.)

I rarely play the games now but hey, you move on!Besides, that vice is nowhere close to sex,drinking, . .oh just fill in the blank!

@Aidan h and Shade

Welcome to the 'Brotherhood'

Hahaha--yeah, I was so glad I managed to throw respect to the Chems in that vid. ;-)

It was a really interesting experience recounting and assessing my video game addiction/enthusiasm over my lifetime. It did, indeed, become a problem my freshman year in college, but thankfully I've gotten control over it. Make no mistake, though, it is an addiction.

But I'm really glad that I got addicted to video games and not to something like, you know, CRACK. The health ramifications are far greater with hard drugs.

Oh, and I'm sorry you missed the ForumOrgy. It was awesome to hear the world premiere of EBWX. :)

So, that shirt is traveling with me to Olympia. It's going to have been to three different Chems shows and two different countries. :)

. . . And still after hundreds of washes, the shirt has not faded?

Hmm! Must be using Tide with Color safe Bleach!

I was kind of laughing today because of the thread that was about the late 90's music and those vids we linked up yesterday. I worked at a store in Downey today and the music in that store was playing the exact same 90's music we heard on the thread .Keep in mind that this company that I work for plays satellite music for the customers in the store, but this music was on a different channel so I asked the store manager to change the radio back to its normal station (top 20, pop,soft rock,) because of the company policy. But right before the station changed, this song came on!

You're the devil in me

i brought in from the cold

you said your body was young

but your mind was very old

you're coming on strong

and i like the way

the visions we had

are fading away

your part of a life i never had

i tell you thats just too bad

First time I heard a Chems song at work! Made the rest of the day go smoothly!

SWEET! I'm glad you got a bit of Chemical in your day to make it go well. :)

I love it when that happens.

I'm spoiled--I get to listen to the Chems all day if I want on my computer in my office. ::puts sunglasses on::

I might go with some friends to that electric festival in L.A. on saturday. Moby, PVD, Benny Benasi, Krafty kuts, Goldie. Some good DJ acts as well!

http://www.electricdaisycarnival.com

This would be so fucking cool if I went and this happened:

The show ends and i'm making my way toward the exit and one of those guys hands me a flyer for 'Nocturnal 08' and it says 'The Chemical Brothers'!

I'm such a dreamer!

Not completely a dream. It happened last year. ;-)

I'd go, but it's not worth the trip for me. I didn't completely enjoy myself at the last rave put on by the promoters...

Yep! Nocturnal 08 line up just came out: Digitalism, Richie Hawtin,Kaskade,and Cosmic Gate!

I'll pass!

Richie hawtin....I'll take my two sets with him at fuji thank you. one in the valley. One ontop of the mountain. muwhahahahha.

As for electric daisy in LA......Shinichi Osawa would be the only act I'd be super hyped to see.

yah, chems would rock at nocturnal after hearing what it was like last fall for you lot that went. But with a basic conformation that Olympia will be the last set this year makes it kind of a buzzkill.

The only way I'd go to Nocturnal again is if The Chems are playing. :P The crowd were funny and amusing and it was definitely a people-watcher's paradise, and very much like taking a trip through the way-back machine... but there seemed to be some uncalled for agression at certain points. At some points during the show it was a mob scene where we were standing for the gig and it can be hard for someone who is short like me to stand my ground. Anyway, I just don't care much for Insomniac productions as they are ALWAYS fucking disorganized and the organization of Nocturnal last time around left a lot to be desired. I don't even think they had a venue planned until a month before the event - a perfect example of the level of disorganization. As one person said to my husband, it was about as organized as the George Bush administration. We waited over 2 hours in the guest list line before the people doling out wrist bands even had the dang list. Getting into the event, going through the mobs and through the security check points was crazy and the way the make-shift venue was mapped out defied all logic. I don't mean to sound ungrateful because I am not by any means - I am SO grateful I had the opportunity to see the Chems played Nocturnal and we had an incredibly amazing time - regardless of some of the griping/downfalls I mentioned - so everything, all of it... made for an incredible experience. Plus I was with really cool people to enjoy the show with, so that made it even better. :D I think the Chemical Brothers are a bit more deserving of a more organized event... like, say Coachella for example. *hint hint*

So, very OT. I just found out that i'm going to be working in Florida for most of the summer in a studio. Any florida chems fans around here? It'd be cool to meet up (since i'm probably gonna be bored outta my mind).

Disorganization. . .I got one for you!

It happened on last New Year's Eve, and again in LA and in the same location, and Tiesto came on, and here i am getting squeezed on the railing when I was front and center as the crowd was in a tent. People were getting crushed so that it stopped the show for 10 min and then resumed! Then fights broke out around us and more people were getting crushed in the front! Then the fire marshal came out and threatened to stop the show if only everybody took a step back to give some room. Then Tiesto grabbed the mike and told everybody how we were feeling and told us politely to move back! Where's the Safety measures? I was fine, but some of the women in the front of the railing had to be taken out by security because they couldn't move and get out!

Coachella is better planned out! Are you listening T and E!

I think all of us West Coasters were feeling a lot of pain when seeing the lineup for Coachella didn't include the Chems. Hopefully they'll come back someday...

@ whirly, nice Rocky & Bullwinkle reference there.

Coachella with Tom and Ed is still a big event that I would love to experience one day. Especially to meet some of you guys finally. However it kinda sucks since we would have to wait until 2010 to see them really tour after olympia according to one of the old posts. We always could get a crazy one of Dj set like they did in 2006 for Summercase (aka the animal track event).

Coachella...the Daft Punk experience was great....the 100° at 7 in the morning in the tent and having people constantly asking me where to get papers, 'vitamins', or LSD throughout the weekend wasn't fun.

@prochem, everything in bullshit chat is OT most of the time so live it up.

I don't mind the druggies. I'm kinda one of 'em. ;-) Though, I'm much more toned down than most.

Coachella has a really nice vibe to it that thankfully hasn't yet gone the way of Woodstock, though probably because they don't focus on putting on a lineup of "hardcore" --shitty-- bands. The eclectic mix seems to bring variety to the audience.

I do wish that I had been able to go the past two years, with '06 for Daft Punk and '07 for... well... a lot of bands.

Every now and again, I'll go through my spam folder in my email... and you know it's time to slow down when you start receiving spam that pertains to glow sticks. Discount glow stocks, no less. The whole banner I got doesn't image correctly, but... Viagra and penis enlargement spam - I can understand (somewhat). Same with money scheme spam. Or real estate spam. But glow sticks? It's just weird.

My grandpa (dad's dad) passed away a couple of months ago, and we all knew it would be a matter of time before my grandma would follow. She's not quite there yet, but... She's having a hard time and has some complications - she is stubborn but I think she knows she'll need to rest soon. Her mind is sound, her memory is keen but her body is shutting down. She's in her 90's. She's always been resiliant and a family matriarch and presence but it is still hard to believe the clock is ticking so loudly now.

We were never particularly close growing up. Well, we were very close for a while until I was about my son's age now (10). There was always this strange sibling rivalry with my aunt and uncles that projected these (largely fabricated) rivalries between us cousins. And as a result, my brother and I were sort of left out of this "circle" because we were told over and over again that we didn't make our grandparents proud. I was never the achedemic achiever or ivy league scholar my grandparents hoped I'd be... or so my parents would have me believe that my grandmother felt this way about me. How stupid of me to let the bitterness my parents had and continue to have to this day, affect my relationship with my grandmother. She is a sweet little old lady and has always been so nice to my husband.

Yesterday she told me she was glad I was happy, because if you aren't happy then what are you, really? It hurt me to see her eyes get teary and hear her voice crack because I know it must take a lot of strength to cry when you're that frail. This is probably more than anyone cares to know about me personally, but it feels good to get this off my chest...
