Once he got out of the introductory phase of Second Life, he instantly got sat upon and molested by a goth/anime looking second lifer. It was really annoying. But kind of funny once he just flew off and left the guy standing there in the fake snowy landscape.

Finding that pavillion dealie-oh with the Chems was quite a challenge. There's no way to find a specific place. You just have to bring up the map, then click on the pink stars. There's a lot of pink stars, so I was amazed I found quickly it after stash lost several minutes trying to locate the thing.

To be fair, the area where the Chems was shown was kind of neat looking. I understand to some degree the kind of marketing Astralwerks is trying to do with getting the Chems out there. The entry to the "area" where the video was being shown looked like it was in the process of hosting a multiple sclerosis awareness/drive later on, so that could turn out to be a positive means of raising awareness if poeple in Second Life can be bothered with what's going on in real life. I'm glad the "area" was deserted rather than having to wade through furries and deal with goth/anime molestations.

I think the concept of Second Life is really interesting in a sort of matrix-y sim city sort of way, but there's no point. Kind of like geocities on steroids. It's not a game, so there's no real purpose to it being there. The chat is idle chat and it doesn't seem like it would foster any kind of real discussion. I could be wrong, I haven't played it except for last night and don't plan on playing it again. It seems a mimic of "life", or a sick mockery of it. And when life is boring, you make up something to do. One of them being spending money - people spend real money buying virtual goods on Second Life. People have business ventures on there, they have shops where they sell goods... This isn't like spending money for game play, because there's no objective. It's just there... Second Life is scarey in that it's a haven for bored individuals with no objective who can turn to their sick fantasies and create avatars whose only purpose is to fuck children avatars, or fuck horses or create dead fetus skins. It's anarchy. I find the whole thing disturbing in that you (meaning everyone from adults to my 9 year old son) can create an account and do whatever you want on Second Life - pretend to fuck children and animals but if you say shit about how Second Life is a pit of human depravity then you'll get banned.

I just don't like it.
