I don't think it was, and in fact I'm puzzled as to why this isn't okay.
This is a recording of a radio show, not a recording of the track itself. There is a distinct difference between offering a "leaked" track, i.e., an official recording of a track that otherwise is not released, and offering what essentially amounts to pressing record while the radio is playing. The latter should be of no concern.
I don't see the difference between offering the recording of the radio show versus the offering of a recording of a live show of the Chems. We have been making available live sets here without question, and there have been no complaints.
You might say that in this case the difference from a live set is that this is not yet released, but how exactly does that make a difference? And how do we account for Superflash in sets that have been offered up before? If the concern is that there will be decreased sales of this track as a single as a result of the sharing of this radio rip, does the recording of this track, complete with Annie Mac commenting in various bits in lesser-than-recording-studio-quality, actually serve as a suitable replacement?
So, no, I don't think it was at all inappropriate to of Wincent to approach the idea of offering the BBC recording in this way. There are legitimate questions and concerns around this, and whatever management wants to make the mods do is fine, but in the end it's just annoying.
