Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield is still one of the greatest instrumentals ever written. I don't think anyone has ever come close. He was 17 years old when he wrote it.

In that clip you'll spot Steve Hillage of system 7 on guitar. Planet 7 by them is also rather beautiful. I'd love to see Steve and the Chems work together sometime.

Awesome choice Bloke!

I haven't read the whole thread yet, so sorry if this was already posted, but this was the first thing to mind when I read the word instrumental.

People despise Oldfield, but his early work is stunning, amazing, incredible, etc. The work of a genius to sum up...

For years I have thought this song was an instrumental by Metallica because of a misnamed .mp3 and I just found out now it's not Metallica :oops: Anyway, it's still great.

Blue Man Group is one of the weirdest bands I know. I've been wanting to see them live for years but unfortunately they don't tour that much. Still, the show must be amazing.
Roses are red
Violets are blue

I found this one a few years back on a random play on my ipod - i have no idea how it landed there but love it:

<The C, the H, the E, the M, the I, the C, the A, the L, the brothers! THE BROTHERS!>

^ I discovered it when watching Napoleon Dynamite. There is a bloody awful dance tune that samples it and turns into an irish jig.

But there is a good remix of the original by The Orb on the second Aubrey Adventures comp

Thanks for that! I'd heard of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and I'd heard this song (and really loved it) in a variety of places, but I never put the two together! Though this is the version that I (and probably most people who just "heard it somewhere") knew:

Odds are this is the version that that techno group botched!

Actually the version on my ipod is 3 mins 27 seconds, and I like it way more. I can't find that on youtube. It's a studio recording I reckon, definitely not live. it really does make u stop everything you're doing and flow along.

Also I'd like to put a lot of the Prodigy Experience here (and most has some vocal samples) but this song must be on this thread I think. Liam did a reprise version last year live here and I melllltted.
