I'm sure you can find Dig Your Own Hole new for under $10 almost anywhere.

That's very ignorant of you to come on here and ask such a pointed question with obviously no regard for us as fans of the Chems music.

pickel_weasel, we will not give links to free mp3 downloads of Chemical Brothers songs that appear on official releases. I'm sorry, but we just will not do that on the band's messageboard.

Maybe try online? I've found some used copies of Dig Your Own Hole that are real cheap!

speaking of DYOH....for those chemical collecters out there...is the DYOH US promo (jeweled case) a rairity?.....i just recently dug it out of a record store in their used section and its in perfect condition...looks like it never has been played....hopefully my $3 purchase was worth it

I don't know that it's a rarity, I think the numbers on the disc and the barcode may be the same as a saleable copy. But I'm not 100% sure. Does it have a slit or hole through the barcode and a "for promotional purposes only" stamp on the sleeve? If so, it's more a novelty than anything else.

And well worth the $3 no matter what!

no barcode at all on the cd case or cd.....nor any tags or stamps ....on the front it says:

(white backround- black colored font)

The chemical brothers

DIG YOUR OWN HOLE

Backside:

(white backround- black colored font)

Dig Your Own Hole

The chemical brothers

then it lists all the tracks

has a astralwerks sign

astralwerks 6180 AD CD/ LPx2

for promotional use only- not for resale

gives the address to the astralwerks headquarter in NY and then their web address

Hmm. In a basic sleeve like that, it's probably an advance cd. Well, I think you got yourself a rare novelty cd! A nifty thing to add to your collection, definitely a collector's item in the Chemical world.

And a damn cool find if you ask me. 8) The odds of finding what you did are pretty rare, so that's awesome. The DYOH promo that I used to have way back when was exactly like the ones for sale, but with a slit in spine and the barcode.

8O Are you talking about the drums? The whole track builds up to that and it ends perfectly! Unless you're talking about the mix into TPPR?

I really dislike Th State We're in, and WDIB is a marvelous track, including the end...

I prefer Where Do I Begin over The State We're In.

Both are very good songs, in my opinion.

Where Do I Begin has a more physical feel to it that I find more appealing - really reminds me of a sort of befuddled feeling you get after an occasion that was disorienting. I really love how Beth sings this song. In my opinion, it's a great "comedown" track after the explosive and disorienting journey of Dig Your Own Hole. It sort of sets you up for the final lift off that's the Private Psychadelic Reel, the calm before the storm.

Whereas, in my opinion The State We're In has a more introspective and even melancholy feel. It's a lovely song, beautiful melody and Beth proves again she's a true Chemical Sister. But it seems there's something deeply sad about this song - not that there's anything wrong with that of course. But in context within the album, you know, a classic Chems album which has peaks and valleys that lift you up and ease you back down... I think The State We're In brings the album down a little too much.
