I have DYOH poster, the black is cool. I want one of the big-ass Surrender silkscreens!
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

Not necessarily, though silk is a good textile medium to work with.

And why are these silkscreens so nice? Are they big?

I've seen the animated Surrender mousepad.

Silk screening to create poster type prints (this is also used for t-shirts too) are usually referred to as serigraphs. A serigraph is an original silk-screen color print. Serigraphy is a stencil process in which ink is forced onto the material - be it cotton, paper, even canvas although that's not as good a medium. The stencil is made with a silk screen because it is so porous, though nowadays polyurathane or organdy screens are used because of availability and cost. Anyway, ink is applied on the stenciled screen and the image is transferred onto the poster/t-shirt/whatever medium. Different screens are usually used when another color is applied to the overall image. Because this process is so time consuming, and depending on how many colors are used in the image, serigraphs can cost a lot of money especially if they are large in size. A lot of fine pieces of art are duplicated in this manner, so their artistic worth is more than that of a typical poster or lithogrpah( I won't get into that) you'd buy at a record store or mall art gallery. So if anyone can get their hands on a Chemical serigraph without paying an arm and a leg, consider it a deal - it's a great piece of art to have!

:) anType your posts are quality because you are a walking Chemical encyclopedia!

I've never checked out eil.com because I'm broke half the time unfortunately and don't have the cash to spend on things I really like. I'm fairly certain that when it comes to art like serigraphs or lithographs and such, some kind of certificate of authenticity would be included (this is the norm for a lot of dealers who distribute art) so that might be figured into the high cost of their art pieces. I think since their service must be as good as you say, then that's good chunk of what you pay for.

I like eil, it may be expensive, but I like all the things that come with it. I get regular newsletters (e mail), stock listings when I order something, emails when they get new stuff and when I order something I get the same person dealing with it each time. When you ask them a question you get a straight answer :) .

There's stuff on eil that is very difficult (imo) to find elsewhere, like the interview discs.

However, I'm glad I didn't order MMM from there, it was 40!!!
