"we both read and enjoy this forum and get a lot out of your feedback I was just a bit stung by this suggestion of incompetence...peace Ed xx"

I'm sure mips will make his own comments lad but I think it's pretty obvious neither of you are incompetent. Neither mippio or I would travel around the country to see somebody who was incompetent.

what we come to see is 2 people who blow our minds musically and who've inspired us greatly over the years. from the the small village where we come from there are 5 or 6 die hard chems fans and 5 of them started making music citing the chems as a MAJOR influence.

shame you were offended - we all think you're legends.....I guess the chemical brothers are our new order.......

anyway enough of that - look forward to glint, glasters and the new record....and def that wiggly acid tune!

cheers

Well, fuck. I come home from school after his last post!!! What are the odds of that!!!!
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

if this is you ed, i apologise. honestly, please don't feel patronised, it was affectionate more than anything - attempting to skew a mix in at 4.00am after half a bottle of vodka with tom casually leaning over and flicking the tune while you wrestle with the eq's makes me smile anyway :)

i dont want this to sound gushing, but yours and toms music has been a huge inspiration and influenece on me and some of my close friends - if it wasnt for your tunes i probably wouldnt be doing music production at college and trying to do something creative with my life.

as chebbers said, we've been travelling round the country for aeons to watch you boys DJ - sankeys last january at the tribal sessions was one of the best clubbing nights ive ever had, and the glasters 2000 live set is my number one gig of all time - and i honestly dont think your incompetent - its just not silky mixing like tenaglia - which i dont want to hear anyway - its about the tunes, not the mixing right???

anyhow, looking forward loads to the new album.

got my tickets for glint on the 22nd - howsabout i buy you a vodka and orange to make up for it???

cheers

GLAKO, I've missed the boat along with you. I'm away for the day and I miss all the action! But what a nice surprise. I get the gushies inside just reading all this.

I've been a skeptic in the past, but this feels genuine so to all you non-believers out there, I personally think it's *wicked cool* that Ed's taken the time to fill us in about the new record and clear the air a bit. And sneaker, props to you my man!!

You bet if I ever get the chance to buy Tom and Ed a drink or 2, it'll be vodka and orange. It's good to know these things. ;)

They guys have certianly taken there fair share of mind bending chemicals, they sensible keep quiet about what and when, but there is little chance they would have gone to the Hacienda every week, during the heyday of Acid and Amyl House and not had a good old party.

Regarding them still -in the words of - Jim Morrison still taking trips, dots or squares not sure. What I do know is that if you have been to any of thge Glint parties at Turnmills lately or were in the dance tent last year for glasto then you would have seen how Tom has had to help Ed out with some of mixes due to his rather intoxicated state - and I don not mean drunk

What is true though is that you dont have to be take drugs to feel the vibe of the brothers. However, there music idef lends itself to a pschdelic rather than energetic/mashed up state.

As a final point they have mentioned in several interviews how they have calmed down in recent years and no longer feel the need to be out every weekend (esp for Tom since the birth of Matilda.)

Wow i havent been back to check out this post i made in a while.... but damn.. i wasnt calling them junkies... and i am definetly sure by now that they would have slowed down(maybe even stopped) but i mean you dont make songs like "The Test" and not have dropped acid. I myself am far from a junkie but every once in a while when im making music and catch a dry spell i'll drop a bit in hopes of a little inspiration... but anyway guys dont get all flustered up i meant no harm... was just a joking question lol.

You know what's really awful about the whole electronic music <-> drugs thing?

There's not much electronic music activity in our precious little country, but for a couple of years now there has been a smallish festival called Koneisto, which features mostly electronic artists. One of our nation's leading papers decided to make an article about the festival, but guess what they titled it with? "Techno and drugs"! The whole article was just about how many % of people attending the festival were under drugs and things like that! There was absolutely nothing about any artists, or music, just some electronic music implies the use of drugs rubbish!

The next paper had a disappointed comment made by the organizer of Koneisto. He explained that it isn't very easy to organize a proper festival of music that isn't very mainstream and that the paper didn't help things much. Also, rock festivals are the main interest of public here and if you care to look up how many % of people attending rock festivals are under drugs, it's much higher than what was discovered in Koneisto.

So yeah, it's always nice when some people just have to get the drug topic started when I would rather listen to the music.

sorry to tell you the drug topic "started" around 1994.. everyone knows that the scene contains drugs and really noone cares anymore... just the media... if people quit caring so much the media will move on to other things... Hell the media is the worst in the United States... they even had the media LYING to us about how dangerous drugs are for years when the us govt decided it would be a good idea to falsify tests with certain drugs and claim that they eat the lining outta yer brain and crap... everyscenes got drugs and all and if people dont want to hear about drugs in teh scene then dont listen to groups like the chemical brothers cuz liek i said before the song titled "the Test" is all about ACID! Come on people quit shitting yourselves... Think about the beatles for fucks sake... lucy in the sky with diamonds, hell an ENTIRE ALBUM by alice in chains was about heroin... drugs are in every culture, every scene, every social class, and every school... and its not even the drugs that are bad... its the bloody USERS... i openly admit i do drugs...but you know whati do them in the safety of my home... i dont go out and make a fool of myself and my scene, i dont drive fucked up... and i keep teh frequency of use to a minimum... nobody likes an abuser... but fuck we are way off topic now...point being dont act like you all have virgin ears and minds...

the song titled "the Test" is all about ACID!

hate to be a chems pedant (;)) but didnt ed say on the dvd video that the test was about 'spending years in clubs but now there a bit older and a bit wiser and in a better place' (paraphrased a bit - i canna remember exactly what he said - but it was along the lines of we've lived it but we've grown up a bit now)??

dont think it really relates directy to an acid experince per se tbh with you. however, the video is trippy as fuck!! ;) :)

I don't think anyone's really acting like they have virgin minds and ears. I just think that everyone hears things a bit differently (The Test, for example) and therefore interpretes it a different way because we've all had different life experiences and whatnot. What seems glaringly obvious to one person, might not be with the next person that comes along. Nobody's come out and said the only way you can truly understand The Test is if you've dropped acid, this song isn't esoteric as I've seen it really mean something to people who haven't dropped acid. That's the beauty of music, or this particular song - once it's made it's way past your ears and into your brain, your mind's interpretation is up for grabs. I do think you're onto something about The Test though so I'm not trying to debunk your theory here... ;) Then again, the whole theory of passing the Acid Test is a pop culture reference dating back to the 60's - I'm sure you know about the first group acid trips where the goal was for everyone to drop out and subscribe to the same wavelength, reach a higher level of consciousness together, reach a higher level of understanding together, and come out of it together as *one* This acid test reference made it's way into the mainstream to be digested and applied to other aspects of life. So the phrase in the song "did I pass the acid test" doesn't necessarily have to be about dropping acid and coming out of it a more enlightened person. Life is full of tests, the horizon can keep you grounded. That's why The Test strikes a chord with me - sort of, it's hard to explain but it's not all because the drug reference is speaking to me, but the heart and emotion of the song strikes a chord with where I often find myself when I'm at a crossroads in my life. At least that's how I perceive it.

I am a bit confused as to why 1994 was the date you chose in reference to the drug topic... :?
