Just bought NME, for the first time i may add. After reading Q's poor rating of the brothers new album I couldn't believe it, and I thought NME would be more open, how wrong I could be. Has anyone seen it? 4 out of 10! I dont care to much for reviews and nor should tom and ed, it just seems that Q and NME only like Punk, Pop and the odd alternative group - AKA LCD Sound System, the apparant saviours of Dance music.

Sure enough the LCD sounds good, but you can't write the chems off, the fans are here for you Tom & Ed, the fans will never desert you.

I know Mixmag and Radio1 are bigging Push the button up, at least they have their heads firmly screwed on.

Love is all

I told You. I'am Chems fan since 1997, and i rating the Push the Button the lowest. I can give 4/10 at most. Almost every track on this album is....veeeery similar (bum bum bum bum bum bum bum). It is more schocking album for me that the Come With Us. They really are aout of new ideas, too shame. But this involved not only Chems. The new albums of Fatboy, Prodigy, Oldfield are really weak and veeeeeeeery comercially. I hate when everything is about money ;(

I really hope this is another case of English-as-a-second-language because seriously... wtf. Out of new ideas?? It's OK not to like the new record, that's a matter of opinion. But it is completely presumptuous as a *fan* to make this assessment. To shame on you!!

And is Push the Button only about money? Is that what you're implying here?

If you think it's about money, you need to do a search and read miloco2forum's (that's Ed, in case you didn't think he reads the forums)posts. Yes, Tom and Ed make a living off what they create but the music on this record is clearly about what's in their imaginations and hearts, not about what they hope comes into their wallets.

Please be more careful with your words!!!

no, your a dig your own hole fan. i 'm a fan since 95 what ever that has to do with it?? after a few weeks with ptb i'd say surrender is probably still their strongest album, and push the button comes a close second. how can you say the tracks are very similar?? push the button has a wide kalidoscopic sound. peaks and troughs, energy and subtilty. its a very complete package
I'm a fuckin doughnut

equinoxe24: are you even a fan???all u seem to do is slate the many great works by the chems, by setting up negative threads, it seems like u actually only like 5 songs by them, you are hardly a fan

Push the Button is fabulous, if they just made another DYOH you'd be able to say that they are running out of new ideas.

But listen to push the button,

The boxer the funkiest track they have ever made i cant compare it to anything that has come before.

Hold Tight London this has got a totally new vibe on it than anything ive ever heard, its full of emotion

Surface To Air, the most beautiful record i have ever heard, i can feel the goosebumps of wen they play this one live already,

Plus you've got Come inside, The big Jump, and believe, all have a great club vibe. i don't see how u can justify rating this at 4/10. Don't you understand the chems? they aren't going to make another DYOH, because they are not lazy, they have the bollocks to try new sounds, if u don't appreciate this.... then fucking Do 1!!!

are you okay? any bumps or cuts? just checking..because you have obviously fallen of your rocker.

please, take some of these new tracks and give us an example as to how they are old CB ideas. These new tracks may stem from the Chems progression and evolution of ideas over the years, but he final product is certainly new and freash. You need to give PTB a fe more listens.

Maybe i'am fan of Dig Your Own Hole only. Maybe. But those music was PSYCHEDELIC. Those tracks has fuking charakter. Every track on this album is just something different. Any track is like a suite, has some complications in it. What have Push the Button??Only this crap house rhythm. CLEAR HOUSE. This is almoust like elektro music. Feeeewwww. If i would like to hear house i'am listning to daft punk and fatboy. I always count on Chems, they take me somethink other than standard as shit tracks. This is even no complicated house. But i understand this - todays music is just simple house. Elektrobank is one track. It has almost 200 samples used in it. It is very complicated in rhythm and melodys, it PSYCHEDELIC like rest of DYOH (DYOH track for example). For me PTB is weakest work, but in this meaning this is less complicated album. Beside Big Jump remind me those crappy Prodigy work... bleee

Yes. I'am fan, and as fan i'am piss off with there new album. Because music like this a can here averywhen in radio. This is normal tracks with normal vocals - standard housy tracks. Where are the amazing times, when those two mens can making the fuking music wchich was not understanding and undefitially for 99% peopples in the world???Music from PTB losting in tons of todays music stuff. Maybe You can't see this, but i see this clearly, and i know that will be not another album like DYOH, like Oldfield never make second AMAROK, Fatboy never create second You've Come Along Way Baby and Jarre never get his succes with Equinoxe album ;(

You have to stop living in the past...Smart people on this board have mentioned this several times before. Why the hell would you want another DYOH!!!??!? That's why I love The Chemical Brothers music, because they always sound fresh, but still timeless!!!

Listen man, it's OK to like Dig Your Own Hole. You can even marry it for all I care. I LOVE Dig Your Own Hole, I would have an extramarital affair with it if I could.

But please. We're pushing nearly a decade since Dig Your Own Hole was released. It is obvious to Tom & Ed that Dig Your Own Hole ain't where it's at right now 8 years after the fact. It's 2005. The Chems ain't going back to 1997, and why the fuck should they? They've been there, done that, and conquered. They're pushing foward rather than staying stuck in the past like you have.

In my observations over the past couple of days, even the toughest critics, some of the old Chemical Bros mailing list people who are my friends and who've kept tabs on every single Chemical maneuver, are warming up to Push the Button. Believe me when I say they have tough ears, but they can hear the music in Push the Button.

God, now I'm just bent. Great way to start my day, I should've waited until I got home from work before I started posting. grrr.

big thanks to the internet advance release to help build the hype letting people judge the album for themselves

these reviews don't make any sense to me. how can anyone say the boxer isn't a great track?

how can you be a fan when you say:

exit planet dust - boring, their weakest album

come with us - shocking

push the button - need i list what you have said!!

i don't know your thoughts on surrender, i'm sure you must have said something derogitary about it. you are more than entitled to your opinion. i'm just not sure why you share your opinion when you clearly do not like anything other than dig you own whole. it sounds like you could never be pleased with anything the chems will produce in the future. so why do you have to post your negative thoughts on here?? why do you have to bore us with your grumblings??
