that would have been great to witness. my sister always told me about she tripped out to orbital at glastonbury, and how amazing they were. i think the penultimate tickets for the brixton show is gonna be a fucker to get tickets for. good luck to anyone how tries to go.

Not one of my favorites but sad to hear it. The live thing is not something I would worry about, there's just too many good artists already who have stepped out of the spotlight. I just miss the songs that never were.
They had to split up to make a future comeback, didn't they? :)

ORBITAL BOW OUT AT GLASTONBURY 2004
ORBITAL are to play their last ever gig headlining the OTHER STAGE at this year's GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL.
After 15 years together, the dance duo - brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll will call time on the outfit with a performance at their spiritual home on June 27. Orbital played memorable shows at the festival in 1994, 1995 and 2002.
Orbital, who will also play a show at London Brixton Academy on Friday June 25, releases their last ever LP, 'The Blue Album', on June 21.
Speaking on the band's official website loopz.co.uk, Paul Hartnoll said: "I think we feel that Orbital has run its course. We?re both pursuing different avenues with our music. And we?ve been sat, as brothers, in the same room for 15 years now?and studios are always confined spaces?I think it?s time for a change."
He added: "It?s nice to know that we?re finishing, it?s not many bands that do that. They tend to just fade away. And it?s nice to have our last gig at Glastonbury. It?s gonna be a party set, a best of Orbital. We?re not gonna sit there and try and promote the new album. I think if we?re gonna do a last gig we should do distilled set of all the best stuff we?ve done. And that?s what we?re gonna do, play all the stuff that?s stuck around for all this time because they are the favourite ones."

This is... my goodness it's like the end of a generation here!
It's very sad news to the big fans out there, but the good that's come from their music and the inspiration Orbital will give to future generations in musicians will be their legacy...

this is very true - apart form the chems they were the only other dance people really cutting the mustard live - i saw them play some great sets - august 1999 the night before the eclipse in the uk they played a festival which hardly sold any tickets - consequently they rattled out their set from the stage/soundsystem to about 200 people who were loving it!! it was wicked - speakers the size of houses AND loads of room to dance, followed with a total eclipse the next day!! brilliant - one of the finest nights of my life.
so yeah, badly missed but an inspiration to us all :)
