It doesn't matter how much you analyse football. How you wonder whether it was a dive or not, whether it was a foul or not, has it been a good World Cup or has it been a shit World Cup one thing is truly certain..............Frank Ribery is one ugly bastard. And I say that not being an oil painting myself.

He was in a car accident when he was young. But yeah he's scary

France - Mexico : not a great 1st half... Abidal and Gallas are retarded, Anelka keeps on shooting 10m above the goal all the time, instead of making a good pass (seriously I don't know why Domenech keeps choosing him)... But the mexicans do a lot of fouls, yet Domenech replaced Gourcuff - the only good free kick kicker - by someone else, so it's not really useful

Ben - look on the bright side, it's not yet as bad as 2002!

Yeah, we can still qualify if Uruguay beats Mexico (or Mexico beats Uruguay) and if we beat South Africa (with as much goals as possible).
In 2006 we were quite bad too but we qualified in the end. Ah well, wait and see. But I'm not expecting anything from them anymore now.

Now, we can focus on our second favourite activity : laughing at Italy and England, when possible.

Henry is old and not as good as before. The problem is our other forwards are bad too...

France!!!???!!!

Lots of surprise results this past week. The remainder of the Group matches should be very interesting.

As brilliantly put by the BBC commentator at the end of last night's game "France needed a helping hand to get into the group and will need a helping hand to get out of it".

Hopefully Mexico and Uruguay will go through as they've been the best teams in the group.

That's pretty funny McMarsh.

Hang in there Ben_j (and Maboul and our other French friends.)

Hoping for a US win today but this has been a strange tourny so far, and let's face it, we've already gotten all the "good luck" we're gonna get.

It will be weird today for me. The match will be broadcast at 9:30 AM here but I won't get home from work until 6:30 PM and then it will be another hour before I can settle and watch the recording. I want to watch it as "live" as I can, so I have to avoid all media all day. Seriously, no internet or iPhone all freakin' day. It's going to be like the stone ages.....from George Jetson to Fred Flinstone as soon as I log off.

And it's grim now for our German friends! Shocking referee.

Anyway, now you all have a taste of what it's like to be Scottish! Many World Cup finals and Euro championships, full of hope and expectation every time, and never once making it out of the group stages - usually out on goal difference!

The funniest thing was that they played the Old El Paso ad after the game yesterday.

It's called "drowning our sorrows" Ben_J

England really were poor last night. I never expected us to win 5-0 or something like some England fans but we were absolutely dire. I can't think of a player who came out of the game with any real credit.

England now must win against Slovenia which will not be easy. They scored two good goals yesterday in the first half (not sure what went wrong in the second half, but that could be because USA played well rather than the Slovenes playing poorly) and only need a point to qualify. Even if they do get out of the group, as it stands I've seen far better teams this week than England. Capello needs to go for broke here and really change things up front as it is not working, if it means dropping a Heskey, Lampard, Gerrard and/or a very poor Wayne Rooney then do it. Give Crouch and Defoe a chance.

"It is certainly not too early [to] contemplate the grim possibility that England might be back home with more than one British tennis player still involved at Wimbledon" - Phil McNulty, BBC blogger.

I'd be happy for Algeria to qualify, even though it means we'll have every algerian in the streets of Paris honking, screaming and being assholes (last week the French flag of a city hall was burned and replaced by an Algerian flag).
