Hello, V man here. Sorry to take up collum space with rants and raves, but I live in Somerset in England and I cant stand what people listen to around here!

I went to an 18th birthday party and they were just rolling off the this bollocks commercial Hip-hop all night! I hate the way they try and be black, the Dj's were wearing Bascketball vests and everything...There wasn't a black person in the room. Like someone said Music for people who just dont like music.

I took along a few friends who had never seen the Chemical Brothers b4, and low and behold I take them to what i've heard is one of their greatest gigs ever -'Wolverhampton 04'!

I had the best night of my life, my girlfriend also but one of my best mates listened to Heyboy Hey Girl, Get yourself High, Music Response and block rockin beats, the next thing hes gone to find his car and parked up in a quiet industrial car park and got his head down for a few hours. He loves hip hop, and I joke with him that if it aint black, it aint going on in his car!

His brother and my girlfriend stayed and were just blown away.

But I hate the way I put on a chemical bros album and all my mates dont react and then somebody will put on some shit like J-Kwon, and everybody starts mimicking that little 18 year old twat...What a shit song.

Dont get me wrong, i love hip hop, but i love thoughtful hip hop, cant wait to hear Q-tip, I like NERD and the Neptunes, The old Stuff like NWA and Public Enemy, and im happy to fuse together hip hop into my own tracks, but im a dance music head at the end of the day.

Sorry to have blathered on like an ediot, thanks to anyone who is still with me at this point and can sympathise with me!

Can I just say how much I hate Ja-Raule, and Sisquo. Those Stage school, fake thug twats get number one hits with tracks that are knocked up in like an hour, it really sucks.

Thanks Guys, CHEMICALS RULE :-) FOREVER!!!!

LOVE IS ALL

VMAN
My life is a boat, being blown by you. With nothing ahead, just the deepest blue... To me you're like a setting sun. You rise then you're gone.

I completely agree with you, it all sounds the same, the worst just showing off in their music videos, however just because someone isn't black doesn't mean they can't enjoy black music. I think usher's yeah was the most annoying for me - and most of the rubbish is constantly forced on us on those depressing mobile ringtone ads. Run DMC and Outkast all the way!

hahaha, nice one VMAN :D

I'm sorry, but when it comes to shit music my town just takes the piss. Bastards trying to be black is one of the most annoying thing in the world today, there are so many of the cunts, i'd love a big black man to beat them all up.

Chin up, Vman! You can rest assure you have much better taste than your friends, giving you a fine air of superiority over their insipid musical tastes! 8)

And about your friend who went to his car during the Wolverhampton: a big resounding WTF!!!!!! Hey, at least your girlfriend and the others that stayed can appreciate the blown away experience offered by the Chemicals. I do think it's sad, though. Most people I know who were so-so about the Chemicals were completely converted after seeing them live.

Here's hoping these people you know are only going through a phase. Give it time and they'll come around and expand their musical horizons!
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Dont worry! I have the same problems eith my mates. They all listen to that new G-unit and chingy shit all the time it does get quite ennyoing. Though I just try and ignore it when I am with them cause I know if I try and get them to listen to my stuff (which is usually AE or BoC or something along those lines) they will say "No body listens to Techno so lets go!" and turn it off. Even if its something really good like get yourself high or a anti-pop consortium CD.

I say not to worry guy, cause we all the people that listen to shit rap these days have no taste for good music. And I can live with that 8)

I quite like the hip hop...ofcourse i am from Detroit i have to have some degree of blackness in order to survive. It's all good V-man just try to find a common ground in music with your friend. Prodigy always works for me and my friends.

I remember when I was in 6th Form college and i was into the Chems but the only thing my mates want to listen to is Ian Van Dahl, DJ Sammy and Lasgo. I almost felt sorry for them :P.

I wouldn't feel sorry for them, more anger towards them, and visions of their blood spatterd on the wall behind their bodies.

The problem, as always, isn't hip-hop but commercial hip-hop. There's tons of great talent out there, but damned if I see any of it on TV.

The other problem is laws preventing you from killing mates with shit for taste in music. At least listen to Kanye, or K-OS, or KRS-1, or something with even a little substance. I can't hack the "look my rims are big so my dick doesn't have to be" mentality out there right now. And enough with the ho's in videos. Can someone please travel back in time and kill Hype Williams pre-1997? Please?

One day, one day when I am in power, a law will be passed that will stop anyone from enjoying crap music. Those that do will have to answer to the devil himself, my second in command; the devil }:-)
