I dont think there are any nice pubs in brixton.
Im going on the 18th, my birthday is on the 19th but i could not get tickets, but the chemical brothers will cross over midnight, so it does not reallly matter.
The Albert on Coldharbour Lane is pretty good.... not a 'nice' pub, but, well, dodgy in just the right way.

More like seedy. And not in a good way. I'm all for dark hole-in-the-wall places, but that pub was filthy and the vibe didn't seem right.
I don't know Brixton but there's got to be a better pub.
Oh, I wish we could be there to join you all!!

EBW, I have every intention of going to Coachella. That's the general idea, we haven't got the details sorted out. Like, primarily tickets which we haven't bought yet, what time we're going to get there - the night before or day of - are we going to stay overnight, where can we book a room overnight, do I have enough spf 900 sunblock. But hey, we have a sitter for our son!
How about you - what's your plan? Did you get your transportation, hotel/camping plans etc. sorted out?
It would be cool to meet up with you and I want to make that happen one way or another, I'm sure the closer we get to the date, we'll be swapping cell phone numbers!
*Apologies for hijacking the Brixton thread!*

A girl in my dorm is going to coachella (she's going to be doing something for a magazine). She was sent 2 tickets and I'm going to buy one off of her. She camped out last year at coachella and said she's not up for it again and will be doing a hotel this year. Frankly I kinda want to have the experience of camping out (and not having to pay for a hotel room). But I wont have anyone else to camp with and I don't know how smart it will be to ship camping gear up from texas to california just for a musical festival. Maybe I can find someone with camping gear at college and borrow it.
She also told me that the second day of coachella they didnt let anyone bring in any water. You ever heard of anything like that whirly?
I'd really love it if we could meet up.

Awesome, EBW!! So cool you're getting a ticket - what a lucky find! Hope you and her are going to drive down to the festival together as well. Although I read there's a train station about 3 miles from the venue if worse comes to worst.
Jim and I definitely will not be camping if we can help it. A few years ago, a whole group of my friends went camping and even though the social aspect of it was fun, they said they couldn't keep clean. The next morning they were all covered in black soot and the lines for the showers were incredible. After being in the heat and getting all sweaty all day we like a soft bed and a warm shower - so no camping on a dusty campsite. We must be getting old!!
If you can borrow some camping gear that would be great but if I were you I'd have your parents ship you your own camping gear. You never know with camprounds - if something happened to the borrowed gear you'd have to replace it and that might piss your friend off.
Anyway about the water thing. It is true about the second day, but from my experience of going on Saturdays the same rule applies. No outside food or drinks allowed inside the venue. Security is tight and I've seen them throw away perfectly good and sealed bottles of water! The good thing is, water is fairly reasonable in price. Even the first year of Coachella in 1999, they gave you a free bottle of water when you came into the venue which I thought was cool. There are also portable bathrooms with running sink water so you can refill your bottles like a lot of other festival goers. I've also seen some people drag a hose out to fill up a kiddie pool. A hint though - make sure you bring plenty of water for the walk to the venue and wait in line. Last time I went, nobody from my crew brough enough water and one of us suffered heat stroke and spent most of the day in a medic tent. It does get pretty hot out there!
