The gas station across the street from my apartment - $4.47.
Fifteen bucks got me -just- over three gallons. It was depressing.

That sucks. It is always more expensive to buy gas in the city, too.
I wonder what state is the cheapest all around for gas? My bet is Texas.
Maybe this will allow heads to come together and not only figure out ways to produce more fuel efficient cars or alt. forms of energy, but ramp up our shoddy public transportation we have here in S. California. And other areas that are currently vehicle dependent. Public transportation around where I live is not horrible, but it's not metropolitan and only having 1 bus per hour or 2 just doesn't cut it. And if there's a strike you're out of luck. If I could commute via public transportation I would, but it's totally impractical for me. Driving one-way to work is roughly 20 minutes, depending on traffic. If I took the bus it would take me about 3 hours. I appreciate my job but I don't love it enough to be standing around a bus stop at 4:30am and coming home after 8 at night.

beat this guys . . .$4.69!
I could of sworn just a couple of days ago I was paying 4.49 when I last tanked up! When you add this all up on a monthly basis, it kind of makes my wallet lighter (and empty)I just figured out that it would take me three buses just to get me to work, plus the fact that some of those buses dont run before 4 in the morning (my job starts at 5am)
I remember years ago working in hollywood and taking the buses home (car problems)and the buses would run late all the time. The first bus would take me to LA, then i would get off there and wait again for another bus to take me home. And if that 2nd bus did'nt come before 11pm, then I would have to call a cab because theres no freakin way im going to sit my ass out there and wait till 1:00 am for the next bus! This happened half of the time when I worked up there.And don't get me started on the scent conditions when on the bus in LA!
Im still waiting for my Stimulus check to arrive in the mail to temporary relieve my gas problems but for now, some people have to find alternatives to combat the rising gas prices.
Whats next at the gas-station . . $2.50 to wipe my car windshield!

Wow, yeah, you win.
I'm also one to believe that the smell of a bus is definitely something to disuade people from actually using the public transport. America needs to step up its funding for public transportation if it's going to get anywhere with its citizens in the next ten years.
On a hilarious note, check out the misguided attempt to do something about gas prices:

pretty cool stuff there!
I've been having creative blocks lately so I look at alot of creative art on the net for inspiration,such as illustrator,websites or photoshop stuff.
speaking of websites,I bought a magazine a while back about web design and had an article on the chemical brothers website! what was prety cool about the article was that T and E had a lot of input for the content and what the site should look like!

@Madpooter

The gas station closest to us is $4.39 for 87.
As for how this rise in fuel prices affects food prices - par for the course. We have been avoiding major grocery stores for a couple of years with the exception of the odd trip on the way home from work to pick up something needed to make dinner. We do most of our shopping at Trader Joes which is significantly cheaper (and better!), plus there's a new relatively small chain just starting out called Fresh and Easy which is da bomb. Those places turn out to be hearly half the cost of what it is in a regular grocery chain and it's well worth the extra 2 miles we have to drive out of the way. Next alternative is seeking out local farmers markets and hitting those up every week or 2 while we're out and about on weekends - good for the local economy and good for the wallet.
If you don't mind me asking inchemswetrust, whereabouts do you live now? Are you still in LA?

Thanks for the wallpaper links--I like.
@Whirls--There's going to be a major shift toward buying more locally as the cost of fuel rises. Bananas, for instance, are likely to become an expensive commodity, as they have to come from places like Ecuador. I think it is a positive shift, really.

@Whirly
been in LA for half my life (3 years now in the Westlake area)The Chems performed not to far from where I live!
I want to get out of here (LA) so bad now but the rent is so high everywhere else. I wont make any moves till my next promotion. Speaking of Trader Joes, I frequently get the Chicken Lasagna or the California Rolls when im on my lunch break in the West Hollywood area cause my job requires some traveling. Their food is worth the price but sometimes I go to a Whole Foods and grub there. I did hear about Fresh and Easy popping up stores in cali but im sure i'll try it when I get the chance.
I guess food and gas doesn't get old in here I guess!

Ahh!!! Done with school for good!!!! This is liberation! I can't wait to hang my batcher's degree in my laundry room as homage Fatboy Slim's gold/platinum record collection. On top of graduating, this person I've really been into for a while has apparently liked me just as long, I feel like a middle-schooler saying that, but we've been pretty close friends and by this point I was convinced she didn't feel that way about me... but here we are holding hands and all that couply shit.. I literally took a long walk on the beach.. literally! And it was enjoyed. So yeah, a lot of great things going on for me right now on top of anticipating this Olympia Show, EBW10, and sleeping in a little tomorrow. Brings justice to the last 2 years being stressful... No gas prices are going to keep me down!

Biff, congratulations! And you're either getting some or going to be getting some very soon! NICE.
Oh, one thing, it's Bachelor's Degree, not batcher's. :-p
But, yes, you'll soon be reaping the rewards of that degree... ::snickers::
And we should hang out this summer BEFORE Olympia!!

Any chems remix of 'Pomp and Circumstance'!
It seems not to long ago when I got mine and I can definitely relate to the exams, lab work,or sleeping in the school library. Back then, I remember walking to class with CWU in my headphones (my source for motivation) with a shitload of classes to attend to while at the same time trying to figure out if I was going to make it through another semester! Just thinking about it gives me the chills on the mental side of studying.
And now,where I live, everybody is trying to double or even triple a major just so they can get a lock-on better chance in finding a job. Its tough finding good paying jobs these days, but having a degree gives you a better chance to find one!
Congrats Biff and go kick some job-market ass!

Biff, Big Ups, my brotta
TJ, trash the blinds. They had their chance to serve their purpose and failed. Don't ever put up with unjust behavior like that!

I got some martha stweart shit for you TJ: I had an Out of Control vinyl that got a little aged and couldn't play properly, so what I did what was put that in the oven at a super low temp and mold it into a bowl that I used to my keys and spare change in. It's amazing how fast vinyl melts, so just put it at 200 degrees (F).
