Does anybody here own City Rockers presents FUTURISM? I bought it a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love the second cd - just storming, pounding electroclash. Somebody said electroclash was gay but I disagree. David Caretta - Vicious game really does it for me at the moment.
Has anybody heard the original What does it feel like? by Felix da housecat - is the Royksopp remix completely different?
And another question - does anybody own any of the albums by these artists, and how good are they?
cheers :).

Well the felix original is still quite catchy, you can watch the video here: http://www.sputnik7....=music&key=wdfl
The royksopp remix is quite different and excellent, they are like the chems and take the song and make it their own in an unpredictable way, you can hear a clip here:

If you want to know about Ryksopp then I without a doubt recommend getting their album Melody AM, it's a brilliant, well balanced album and I have never regretted buying it. All the tracks are good and you won't be disappointed. They are quite simply one of my favourite artists. :D

I've got Felix's 'Devin Dazzle & the Neon Fever' and it is quite good, although perhaps not strictly electroclash.
Ladytron's 'Light & Magic' is excellent, and I want to pick up '604' as well as their mix album 'Softcore Jukebox' which I've heard nothing but good things about.
I'm not fully into electroclash as a genre unto itself, but I'm digging all the electro influences through dance music as a whole right now, from the Chems ('Come Inside' as very electro-y elements) to indie dance such as Kasabian or Chikinki.

Goldfrapp "Black Cherry" is just oozing with sex appeal. I love that record. I wouldn't classify it as electroclash, it simply doesn't have that edge but some songs do have elements that somewhat teeter on the edge of electroclash esp. songs like Twist and Strict Machine. Heavy synth lines, very retro feel - that kind of thing.
Electroclash is very reminiscent of the 80's new wave stuff I heard on the radio growing up, kind of post modern punk mixed with retro-synth dance music.
Fischerspooner and the Faint come to mind when I hear the term electroclash.

You said it pretty much spot-on, Whirly: punk with synths. 'Nuff said.
I love that new-wavish sound, but I'm not always into the punky attitude all the time. That's why I love songs like Primal Scream's 'Some Velvet Morning' (single mix) with Kate Moss, or, honestly, hold on while I blush, Kylie's 'Body Language' album (of which 'Slow' would be a good example).
If anyone's looking for probably the prototypical electroclash song, probably have to look no further than the rather obvious 'Emerge' by Fischerspooner.
(In that vein, check out the Fischerspooner mix of Kylie's 'Come Into My World'.)

i knew you were going to say that
well you didn't know i was gonna say exactly that!! but we have had far too much posted about the poppies on this forum, mainly by me. but what can i say, they were a hugely influential band on me. another band that took a lot of influences and mixed them up in a giant melting pot. very bizarre that chemical_si mentioned them too!!
