As the winter of chemical-less days ends, all of the forumites wake from their slumber and hibernation. A new day is upon us...

They're so down to earth lol, hats off to them.

Regarding a new album I'm sure we'll find out in time!

I'm thinking a concept album. The concept will be that they are dad's and each song will be a lullaby.

@ Maboul59.

Seriously? Do you find humor in that situation?

satur8 : it was an answer to "the concept will be they are DAD"..

But don't worry, for the next album, I wish a new epic outro like TPPR and, for the rest, something betwen Dig Your Own Hole and Come With Us (a new kicking ass psychedelic big beat album !)

(awkward pause)...anyway.

i thought it was funny hearing them talk about hbhg, when the video was playing it non stop and they seemed to phrase it in a way "we have to play it every time we do anything" sort of thing, they've made something beyond their control.

this oldish interview was good:

another interview done by someone who has some english knowledge but not much. I was shocked when she asked about the global market question.....an intelligent question....That's not right.

Is any album really the same? Tom and Ed do go in different directions every album. Now we play the waiting game...or Hungry Hungry Hippos again...

It always looks like they're feeling uncomfortable in an interview situation.. what makes me uncomfortable too while watching..

I don't feel the need for big changes all the time when a new album is about to be written or to be released. Don't think it necessary to force something in a new or certain direction by all means. It comes when it comes, during the process of writing or while eating etc. Though, I'd like the idea of another heavenly breakbeats (not another DYOH or something), tweaky noisy basses and great melodies.

I'm happy with anything they have to offer coz they're always unique and different to all that shit out there in the so called music industry. Btw, I think TPWHYN was a wonderful album closer!

I hope a new album will have a breeze of all their previous albums melted into another sound. Little less vocals and more instrumentals would be fine but on the other hand, I like all the sung songs on WATN, they were great actually. The idea of a concept album actually is marvellous. You can do so much with synths and all that (ask the Beatles :D).

I only wished their albums were a bit longer, which wouldn't be much of a problem.

I've always been asking myself why the Chemical Albums were so short whereas they produce many B-Sides !

I just hope...not another Push The Button ! >_<

I would enjoy a melting pot of basic big beat, epic-psychedelic, and gimmick-based tracks !

The outro is often the best track in their albums....

I was fine with Push the button. Lots of really great tracks. The big jump, COME INSIDE, and many more were simply great.

I'd never thought to say that but it's not that necessary for me anymore whether they make big beats or not. It would be gorgeous but it's definately not a must. In my opinion they show so much love for the music and details that it is interesting to listen to just for the music itself. Even there weren't any beats but only layers of synths and sounds (as did in Harpoons).

i dont care what direction they take, if their hearts' are in it (as they have been for the last 6 albums) then it will be perfect. they cannot dissapoint me.

it was also interesting in the video i posted hearing they play "secret songs" in their dj sets. obviously they test out new music they are working on... but just how much of what they dj is just fun little tracks they don't want to release? it's cool to think they have a bunch of material, perhaps not so chemically... something which doesn't work with their studio releases.

Good find dj_sirbadgelot!

I'm glad to hear that the bros are sneaking in the studio with all their time off from 2008 to now to expand the chemical library. I kind of wonder what influences are going to inspire them to make this 'concept' album. 80's Electro? Old School Rap? We don't know but its gonna be banging!

Prediction......Release in Dec 09! Single release in Oct 09!

Cool find, Sir Badge! :D These types of interviews mid-albums are like gems that have been unearthed!

I loved those clips they showed of everyone on that dance floor getting off. That's just the coolest. The Chems - getting people off since 1993. Aw yeah.

Whether or not their next album is like a previous release is not all that important to me - because I am prepared to be surprised, and I hope for the best that I will be pleased (which I have confidence that I will be). By now I'm used to each new album the Chemical Brothers put out is different than the last, so expecting or hoping for their music to sound a certain way... I just kind of let any preconceived ideas or whatever roll off my subconscious. I don't really think about it. I'm just happy they are making music!! One thing I can count on is that the Chems will always pull their sounds or style (their fingerprints) used previously and incorporate that magic into something new and fresh - so I'm super excited to hear what new things they're willing to share.

That said I liked the interview. I thought the record industry and global market questions were brave ones.

dj_sirbadgelot : yeah, it seems that they play "secret songs", like the famous "animal track" but, about it, does someone know where are the tracks "Hey Riff" and "Dusted Decks" (in the tracklist of "In Glint") from ?

I'm realizing that I didn't exactly say what I thought, about "They Are Dad"...I meant it wasn't a good idea to speak about fatherhood when we know what happened to Ed, but I fucking know I should have shut up, so please, forget it, I'm feeling ashamed an whiping myself, apologizing to God etc...

Anyway, if I had to develop the idea of a "they are Dad" concept, I would say more :

At the beginning, their children are babies, so the album could start by a calm song (with another featuring of Hope Sandoval, why not ?), then, the children become kids, young children, so we can have some enjoyed, dancing, naive songs (Charly says always tell your Mummy before you go somewhere), after, we have Teenagers. At this point, there could be psychedelic tracks (LSD mania) and violent, with heavy beats ones (arguments between parents and teens). Finally, they get married and LEAVE HOME (freedooooom, freedooooom...).

But it could be something else...the could produce a non-album, with no tracks, no CD, no packaging, NOTHING ! Something which would TOTALLY work with OUR imagination..."The blank album" maybe.

Anyway, I know that the Chems will make what they want, and what they love. I just hope that the next album will make us have a trip, like the previous ones...

To me, We Are The Night was a very different turn from their type of sound and could even be considered to many as a concept album. Regardless, you all know that whatever they put out, we will all go buy it. Like an electronic/country collection or w/e.

The interview did look very akward and the questions were so mindless at the beginning. "Did HBHG change your life after it's release?" WTF are you supposed to say to that. "Yea It made me a couple of million." o_O

Yes, and the post above me is ridiculous. The blank album? -_-
