You guys are all awesome and I'm being all hormonal, so let it be said I love you all.
Connor is doing much better. :) Poor kid was so exhausted. Today's a big day for him - he gets his dental impressions for braces and an expander - gearing up for the huge day for orthodontics next week when he gets every thing put in his mouth.

Went to Rage Against the Machine at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin this past weekend...
Can anyone say MUDFEST?
Fuck! It was a great concert, but unbelievably terrible weather.
It has been raining really hard all damn week, last week, in northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin. And on Friday (the day of the concert), the heavens opened up, AGAIN. Mud everywhere, idiots sliding in mud, idiots throwing mud, idiots making nasty mud patties in the porta potties and not properly putting it in the the "hole".
Best part about all of this, is Dave Matthews has a concert the following night and then again the night after at the same venue, and the place is in complete fucking shambles.
oh yeah! and Tom's mom introduced Rage too
setlist:
Testify
Bulls on Parade
People of the Sun
Bullet in the Head
Vietnow
Tire Me
Take the Power Back
Calm Like a Bomb
Guerilla Radio
Bombtrack
Sleep Now In The Fire
Wake Up
Encore:
Freedom > Township Rebellion
Killing In The Name
Fun in the Mud:

Oh my god, it is so fucking hot here. I put my hands up to the windows, and the glass is hot to the touch. It's stupid hot. Melt-the-soles-off-your-shoes hot. No use trying to go to the beach on a holiday weekend because the crowds will be phenomenal. And it's humid. There's enormous thunderheads, these gigantic white explosive looking clouds looming off in the distance and you know the rain is coming down buckets up in the mountains. I wish some of that rain would come to where I am.
My electric bill is going to kill me.

It's about the same temp here, Whirly, though slightly windier to dampen the heat a bit. I love it though. We've had a pretty poor last couple of weeks so a couple bright, shiny days are nice to have before school starts. Decided not to go rollerblading but lay out on the deck for an hour or so, reading a book on philosophy.
Honestly, I'd take ridiculous hot over ridiculous cold any day. Everyone here was complaining when we were hitting mid +40s C, but I was in my element. Ideally I'd like consistent sunny +25 C but I'll take sunny where I can get it.

I have been to three festivals this summer - Glastonbury, Glade and Beautiful Days - and all of them were total mudfests.
Great atmosphere at all of them - but dammit, I want some sunshine now!

Quake? Cool!
It's another scorcher out today, beautiful sunny weather. I ditched work early, meaning I worked only 6 hours all long weekend! Going to go enjoy the sun and go rollerblading shortly. And then probably pick up a bottle of wine to go with this evening's movie choice.

Hehe, yeah, I am about 50 miles from where the epicenter was. It was just a singulr jolt is all. I pretty good one, but nothing to write home about (yeah, I'm kind of jaded, haha) It was very weird because usually earthquakes here roll for a few seconds at least. Now if I'd been on the phone and shit starting flying off the shelves and the turtle tank fell over, I wouldn't have been quite so, erm... calm.

When i was in Japan ( i already told you this yesterday on the phone Mia :-P ) i've had about 8 earthquakes ( in 4 months! )
The first time i ever felt one, i woke up from it, and i knew immediatly it was an eathquake, like some sort of instinct.
Than after a while you start to recognize when an earthquake is coming. A few seconds before you already hear the walls making sound. A scratching, ripping kind of sound. Than you know " Ah! Eathquake coming " but before you finished thinking that the earthquake hits.
The biggest one ive had was in october 2004, i said to you Whirly about the Kanto eathquake but i was mistaken - that was in 1923 :-P

It was very strange because of the way the buildings are built , we were more swinging than actually shaking and nothing fell of the shelves and stuff at my appartement. It was def a " WOW " moment tho.
Oh , and about two weeks before that, we had this :

It was fucking awesome. Ive never seen so much rain and wind in my life! And the thunder !!
offcourse it's not so cool that people loose their homes and stuff. But for me, being the storm-freak that i am , i was in heaven!
Ah i love talking about earth- and weather related stuff. I'm such a nerd.
