Highlights for me were the brilliant Kelly Watch the Stars (went down very well with the crowd!), People in the City (the second half of the track was quite lively in places, then going calm again suddenly). There was a track they played which I didn't recognise, probably from The Virgin Suicides, which I don't have yet that worked pretty well.
There's a couple of negatives, the 'cute' vocals (like on Cherry Blossom Girl) don't always carry well live, especially when Nicolas (thats the blonde one right? :-// ) plays the familiar bass guitar. Run was a little low key for me, but I think they placed the emphasis on the tinkling baby sounds rather than the sudden 'baarrr' sounds I was hoping for would be really loud. Talisman sounded a little flat without the orchestra, but I suppose in a live show these elements can't always feature and its just a thought rather than a criticism.
The two fellas came out with the occasionally quirky comment between songs, Jean-Benoit (the black-haired one? - he played various synths during the show) said before Napalm Love "If you're with your girlfriend this evening now you should kiss her", before Run "This one has baby sound" and Nicolas said "Thank you very much" using the vocoder. He then went on to use it for KWTS, other than that he played the bass and acoustic guitars on every song. JB appeared to speak Engilsh better than Nicolas, Nic mainly said "merci beaucoup". Both of them were very humble throughout the show and appeared geniunely 'overcome' by the crowd's appreciation for the music.
The Frenchies did an awesome encore, starting with the beautiful Alone in Kyoto, then Sexy Boy and La Femme D'Argent. La Femme sounds impressive live, the build-up towards the end was a real hands-in-the air moment (no pun/sexual refernce intended!).
Good stuff, the first live show I've been to for aaaages! Really enjoyed it, even the support act, a very timid fella called Peter Van Heoit (or something similar) playing his guitar, some nice songs there.
Anyway, some pics:

The French legends
Sexy Boy (a bit blurred but you get the idea ;-) ).

Im glad to hear they're playing "Redhead Girl" on the new tour (even though i know you dont like it), its my favorite off of Pocket Symphony
Im really excited to see Air at Coachella, but I was really hopping to see them in a smaller venue. Just so happens they announced dates for an American tour last week and they're date for Chicago is at favorite venue. However, Ill be away on my trip out in Cali when they play. :'(

I saw them at Manchester Academy which was standing only, not sure how big (the size of a football pitch?) so yeah it worked well in a small venue. Reminded me (hoho) of seeing Royksopp in Sheffield Leadmill back in 2005. Shame you're gonna miss them in your home town! It would be interesting to hear how they sound at a large venue/open air stage though.
The new album's growing on me all the time, I think Mayfair Song's still my favourite but I really like Mer du Japon as well now :). Moon Safari is still a classic, every track they did from it got a good reaction.

Soulwax/2manyDJs, tonight! 8)
w00t!
Oh me, Oh My!
Soulwax (nite versions) is bloody brilliant!
I was overly impressed by their live performance. They sound better live, then on the album! They dont do any fancy visuals or lasers, just a back drop of the album art of the album "Nite Versions". It was almost like a rock show, they were jumpin on stage and everything. Tracks like "I love Techno" and "Accidents And Compliments" were NUTZ! And I really didnt care for either of those tracks when I heard them off the CD. Only down sides of the performance were, they didnt play "Compute" and the set was only an hour long.
Unfortunately, I couldnt stick around for the 2manyDj's set :( My ride was leaving at 1AM (the exact time Soulwax live set ended).
The supporting DJ's before them were alright. Twice, LCD Soundsystem's track "Get Innocuous!" was played . However, the second time round that it was played, it was mixed beatifully with a track I dont know the name of.
Other tracks played durring the night:
Justice- Phantom
Justice vs Simian- We Are Your Friends
Chemical Brothers- Let Forever Be
Daft Punk- Da Funk
O yeah, and there was this horrible australian solo supporting act called "Muscles" that was flat out terrible. All he did was sing over his trance synths on his keyboard, and had blaring beat that went nowhere.

I hope i can see them someday.
In fact , i did speak to them once in London.
I had no idea who they were , i just went to Erol Alkan to say it was a wicked set , and than they were there and we started talking in Dutch ( They are from belgium ) but i was so drunk that i had no idea.
Pretty funny. I was well excited afterwards X-D
But cool beans Bosco. Glad to see u had fun!

You know that catchy track feeling everyone has got for Do it Agian....well I have that for "Ice cream" from muscles, Triple j (radio station) loves it and it's over played but it's really catchy! But yeah I've visited he's myspace and everything seems too trashy or boring...Soulwax were out here recently so when they were in melbs they would have added him to the tour then. But yeah wouldn't want to see him live
