I do regard myself as a bit fan and I think the forum does have alot of hardcore fans as members but still theres so many people out there who are big fans even more so that alot of us on here who go to loads of shows and have lots of there music. I dnt really at the end of the day however. The only thing that bothers me is when a single does well and gig ticks are harder to get.

I don't consider myself a Chem Bros' fan, but that has happened to me.
Some guy that wanted to show others how big of a fan he was and how noob I was, asked me what was the "original" Bros' name.
I said the name, and he started saying "good google", I must be fast, because I answered in 3 seconds.
Seems that he got that I wasn't so new to the Bros' so it was his time to show how big of a fan he was and he said why they had to change the name (which was wrong). I told him that he was wrong, of course, he didn't accept it, so Google did it, and I showed everybody why they did that.
He never messed with me again. :)
After all that he stared telling me "why are you saying all this in front of other people like saying I'm #1 Bros' fan?!", so I replied "you were the one that wanted to test me and then you wanted to show how big of a fan you were". X-D

I was shopping in town not so long ago with a girl i'd been seeing. we went into mvc and she was like so what music do you like? i pointed to the chemical brothers ptb cd, and she was like "ooooooooo i love the chemical brothers!" im thinkin hmmmm you mean u like galvanise. I sed "oh im going to see them soon in wolves" she says, "o WOW thats really cool, i really want to see them aswell, can i come?" Now im thinking, as if u can hack two hours fucking excellent filthy acid house? when EBW7 comes you'll shit your pants and want to go home and put on your Usher and Mario Winnans CD's on that u sed u like so much. No chance love.
I sed "the tickets have sold out" altho i wasnt sure if they were or not. And needless to say ive not seen her since she went on about her obsession with Usher, fuckin kid.

I must be getting old, because talk of "I'm a bigger fan than you are" and "no wait, I'm the biggest fan" just isn't relevant to me like it used to be. I just don't believe in such a thing anymore.
I think we as individuals know what's going on in our brains and hearts. I know where I stand when it comes to the Chems' music, and that's why I come here every day because I know that I'm going to meet like minded people. I know how the music affects me right here right now, and I know how it affected me when I first started listening to them and I was a brand new fan.
But like ACIDCHILDREN pointed out there are hardcore fans who don't come here, and they aren't any less of fans than we are - well, maybe we are a little bit hardcore! ;)
Here it's a level playing field. We're all here, diggin the 2 people who share with us some amazing tunes. We're old fans and new fans and somewhere inbetween. Some of us are massive collectors and some of us aren't. Some of us have seen the Chems loads of times and there's a few of us waiting for that chance to see them once. Just because I've been a fan since 1999 doesn't mean I'm worth more or less than a person who's discovered the Chems yesterday, or someone who was there from the very beginning over 10 years ago.
OK I'm done babbling about that for now.

Nope, didn't see any of those people anywhere. That's 'cause I'm in the States, and as far as I can tell - correct me if I'm wrong - dance music is thoroughly dead over here. No one gives a fuck. Clubs that onced booked world-class DJs are now scrounging to get crackpot local talents. There seem to be hardly any independant, underground parties happening. Dance music is so dead here the corpse doesn't even stink anymore. It's all composted already. Just sterile soil now...
For someone who saw the heights that dance music achieved here post-97, it's really very depressing. It's not like the Chems were ever *that* successful here, but they could at least fill decent venues across the country. Now they *reluctantly* announce three (THREE!!!) US dates, one of them as an *opening act.* Meanwhile in the rest of the world they seem to fill stadiums.
Goddamnit, what's to like about this country right now?

im a big collecter but thats only because i like owning things (and am filthy rich!!! }:-) )
what anoys me, is like what Young_Fan said, im like the only person in my school into eletronic music, and when people start saying oh i love that band and stuff it just annoys me cos they obviously dont like them that much cos they have had a go at me for listening to them for the past 5 years or whatever. The MOST annoying thing, is when i get accused of only listening to dance music, when i actually have the widest range of music taste in the school and its usualy my friends borrowing 'pop' cds from me rather than the other way round.
anyway, im also rambling on now, im just a rambling man, and you're going to keep on rambling? o yes, i have to...
k sorry, im done!

I hear ya.
But I don't think dance music is completely dead, perhaps in hibernation. It has died down a bit and become somewhat more exclusive, rather than being full out in the mainstream like it was a few years ago. It was nice when dance music was appreciated but I personally think dance music was infiltrated with all sorts of mindless, non progressive and non-daring shit - and people got bored and moved on to other things rather than explore some of the good stuff, the really inventive electronic music that pushes boundaries (not that insipid trance, as someone we know too well cals it) out there. But the lack of proper recognition has really affected some of the clubs I used to frequent every now and again. There's this one club out in Los Angeles. The place is friggen gorgeous, fantastic sound system done up by Ministry of Sound, great patio, multi rooms. It's just a slick looking place, the greatest door man in the world, and the people that went there were cool too - it's like the too-cool-for-school Los Angeles crowd checked the attitude at the door and everyone was friendly... 4 years ago the place was packed to the hilt. You had to line up at 7:30 to be sure and get in my 10 and the place was jammed til 4am. Now the place is a ghost town and promotors practically give away free passes just to get inside. It is very sad, but I firmly believe these types of trends go in cycles and dance music will have it's day again.
Anyway, that's the States for ya. Fickle, with a short memory.
