This has been bugging me for a while. Listening to "floating" by Jape and "All Rights Reversed" by The Chemical Brothers, it sounds (to me anyway) like the chant/hum that runs through the latter track is sampled (with effects added) from the end of the former. I've looked around for an answer including on whosampled.com but to no avail. Maybe it's just a coincidence or maybe I'm the only one who thinks they sound similar... I figured you guys might know though.

Yeah, sounds close. But it's definitely not the same thing. Besides, it would be very hard to directly sample that from the Jape song and have the chant/hum be at the quality it is on All Rights Reversed, without the accapella.

This is probably going to make me sound dumb (shut up!) but there was a karaoke function on my old Sony midi system where you could play a CD, and it would filter out the vocals. It didn't work everytime, but it was pretty good. How does this work?

most songs have the vocal mixed straight down the middle stereo wise, and instruments a bit to the left or right
the karaoke setting normally just takes out anything that goes straight down the middle
i always presumed it was the Klaxons guy doing that vocal part on the song, seeing as he does the other vocal parts, it may well have been 'inspired' by the jape track though

Yeah thats true, listening to it again now I'm noticing it's actually slightly faster on All Rights Reversed and also the sound is a bit different. Oh and thanks.
