Heh maybe Ed was disoriented by the awesomeness!

Thanks so much for the follow up and taking the time to write everything out! I love reading about these gigs and your efforts are much appreciated!

Welcome back from (and thanks for coming out of) lurker status, soundertow! Glad you got a chance to see the Chems!

the whole less drinking electronic minority in Southern Finland must have gathered there just to see The Chems.

It will be the opposite on the 29th
btw, I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING 'ANOTHER WORLD' than any other track played live!

And now, still some ringing in my ear (I had ear plugs but didn't want to wear them... :)

I love the 'ringing' in my ear too! Haven't had that in a while!

@ Champ

on 0:32, it looks like he's gonna fall! Tom 'catches' him!

@soundertow

I read your review. You definitely got me more excited for the show. I'm surprised that Galvanize didn't have much of an impact over there (crowd favorite over here)

The first show is always the best show...until the next show!

Good reading here!

He reaches up to try and catch something being thrown from the audience.

He doesn't look drunk to me, no staggering or anything. More like what Whirls said, overcome by the awesomeness.
Further Remixed There's nothing else...

Yeah, they seem to be goofing around. There was a similar speculation about the Nuke festival in Austria (click here), and Ed actually came on to debunk it and said it was just an impulse they had.
(Also, if you click on that link, please ignore my adulation of that Pills fan video. I was a bit overzealous and didn't yet get the meaning of the song.)

Sounds like it's going to be a good tour, very much looking foward to seeing them soon. I personally think galvanize is a great song for starting the show, but might work better in some contexts/shows than others. Wonder what (if any) the encore will be when they play a non festival show?

Much better vid. Can hear that bass rumbling! Like the new vizs in there.
I like how their cutting it up starting on 0:45 with those laser blast efx's! BONUS!

But my fave is this one with Swoon into SG! Just F#cking insane! I go into a coma on 0:31 where that beat just pulsates every neuron in my brain and reaches a devastating climax on 0:38 (Some guy in the background is screaming which really got me amped) That beat just goes on and on an on and on and......I hope they do this at the Bowl show!

Just watch!!!

I envy you people who can remember details and setlists after gigs. Whenever enjoying a good concert (whether it be by Chems or any other brilliant group of artists) I get so sucked in it's like a state of hypnosis. When the show's over it takes a while to wake up and even longer to recall what went on while I was out. The more I love the music the less detail I can remember - and this has nothing to do with drugs and alcohol. I prefer staying sober when I'm about to experience something I truly love and adore.

Indeed something flew over to the stage at some point. Might have been the small pillow that people were throwing around?

I was trying to remember what those other SFX they were using for Under the influence/It doesnt matter in middle there and some of them are from It began in Afrika. Loved what was going on with the transition from that to Out of Control too.

I always thought of Swoon as a a retro breakbeat version of Star Guitar in a way. Both lush gorgeous and uplifting they were destined to be together!
Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.

Swoon seems to have a great impact played live. If the audience isn't already jumping they'll start at Swoon. This happened during both shows I've been to, Roundhouse and Flow. The weird thing here is that Swoon is the song that many people have complained about being too soft yet it's the one that sparks everyone up.

I guess Swoon and other Further songs need a proper sound system for them to work really good. And I wouldn't be very suprised if the live version of Swoon etc is edited with this is mind... :)

By the way, FYI, I heard the Finnish radio station YLEX will broadcast their Chemical Brothers interview from Flow today around 19:00 Finnish time.

Escape Velocity: live version Helsinki

Check the link above!

Escape Velocity live at Flow. T&E have added more goodness to the beats of EV (Delay and reverb etc with some other bits and pieces) The synth rhythms go even crazier than the album.

I can only imagine what the gig will evolve to when its my turn in March!!

Wow. The quality of that video is just stunning (though the camerawork is a bit off).
Also, go to 4:21 in the video. Go ahead. I'll wait.
...Oh, here it is:

The copy/paste of the breakdown and buildup from the original is made wildly different! Listen to that!

If you caught the name of the program or found a link on YLE's website could you please share it? Thx.

Ok, found it. The program is called X-Ryhmä and the short interview is mostly in Finnish. Nothing new in there except they mentioned testing the Further visuals on four nights in London. So we were a test audience at Roundhouse. :D
