Well, I started on my galvenise remix and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to do a fade in and out for sounds other than the stupid quick one which I can't seem to elong, which be pissin' me off. Thanks in advance.

dunno about acid Xpress, but Acid used to have a volume envelope/automation. just press v while a track is selected, and draw the envelope. (p displays the pan envelope). If Xpress has this feature, it is likely to be pmentioned in the documentation. check it out.

have fun remixing.

Right click the track you want the fade in > go to Insert/Remove Envelope > select Volume. You see that a blue line has appeared in the track. Click twice on the blue line where you want to start and end the fade. If I'm correct you'll see two dots now. Right click the first dot to select your fade type. Pull down the first dot (or the second if you want to fade out).

It's all so easy...

Dammit! :x

Thanks guys but the Xpress version dosn't have the envelope feature. God, this is getting really hard to make a remix from galvenise and other chem. bros. songs. I don't even have loops, which makes it alot harder I guess to make, even though I've never really done this type of thing before. O well.

When I used to work with Acid (Acid music, back in .. uh... 1999 or something...), I never used any of the loops provided with the woftwxare. think about making your own loops, either from records (Goldwave is a good audio editor which enables you to import MP3s and such, and extract and tweak any bit of sound you fell like using) or using freeware/shareware virtual Drum machines/TB303s:synth trackers or whatever. Your music will sound way more original if you create your own loops.

Moreover, you can make your fades in Goldwave or any audio editor and reimport the samples in acid, that's simple.

I used to work with Hamerhead, Moonfish, tuareg and such, but I found out that in the demo version of fruity loops, even if you cannot save anyithing, you can export audio, so this comes really handy to build one or two bar drumloops, plus you can export them with compression or any effects... same goes with bass/synth lines, but you'll be quite limited unless you have some kind of MIDI keyboard...

Bottom line is : you do not have to actually buy or download any music software to make music anyway.

keep it up.

Well, my feelings is to not go to far from the original. Mine is more like it sounds like it's starting but morphs into an unrecognizably slow version of two of thier other songs. Then have a wind up/down sample of galvenize until I have it start playing normally, while tweaking some of the original. Than going back out to my own stuff then back to the song and stuff. Basically, I find little stuff in thier other songs and mostly tweak it so it's more unrecognizable...

better be better than it sounds! that sounds like a pretty weak remix, not really original if its just the song distorted in AcidXpress ways....the remix will not swim, sorry man, good luck

Hey, man, don't judge the tune before you've heard it...

Well, I kind of agree with you, but on the other hand there has been some great pieces of music done using this mashup/bootleg technique...

thats true, i dont mean to judge, but its really easy when you say AcidXpress and the "i dont know how to make loops" line (bc thats what youre tryin to say: "you dont have loops, and you dont know how to make them")

Well first of all I'd try to get my hands on a valid copy of Acid.

I don't mess around with Acid that much these days, But I do understand why it is a Kick Ass program. It's just not a piece of software that will let you be absolutely original if you don't have other software. The last thing I used Acid for was a Mix CD. Anyway If you were gonna do a Galvanize Remix I'd start with the extended version and ONLY sample from the last half of it. That way you would get all the pertinant music and vocal parts and still have enough headroom for whatever you wanted to throw in. Personally I use Fruityloops Studio for all of my Sequencing, I don't have anything like a decent Cubase version to load fruityloops or anything but thats what I would do If I could.

if theres an accapella of the Q-tip parts thats what I would use for the first part of Q-tip's vocals in the song.

Yeah, basically i think watcher is partaking in the Galvanize remixing contest hosted by Acidplanet.com There was a link in this forums a while ago, just look for it.The cool thing is Acidplanet provides a complete accapella of Galavanize. (Mash up, anyone?)

you've got the boring part done, but now, it is not that easy to do something that stads the comparaison with the original, but, hell yeah, that's the promise of a heap of fun.

I just started the download of the full pack of the samples. It's soooo nice to have a cable connection. Crap.. I might have to figure out if I need a more recent version of Acid. BTW... I'm not going to do this for the Contest. What I'll likely do is upload it to my server and post it here.

Crap, almost no progress from the last time I posted...

It's very hard to explain what I'm doing in acid, but lets just say it involves hoops, HBHG, BRB, Fuck Up Beats, UTI,and of course, galvenize. I'm definitely going to add in more sounds after I get done with the general outlay of the song, I'm only 3-4 minutes into it, but I don't think I'll do more than 5 because I find most remixes that are 8 minutes long to be stretched and boring as hell.

(I'm doing this thing inbetween school and lord knows what, and I decided I'm only using AX, because I'm lazy... or I like a challenge :P )

That's a mash up, not a remix.
