So this is finally out ! (of course the album had leaked on the net 3 months ago, but it's still cool to have the proper legal CD in your hands)

The album itself is really great, there are tracks that will later become classic tracks, really OST inspired...

And there's the DVD ! On the DVD you can see how Amon did all his recordings, how he used them, etc... Plus you can see a bit of his Live set here in Paris one year ago, where I was (I think you can actually see me and my friend somewhere in the audience. Too small and too short to tell :(). And there's a really funny part at the end of the DVD where Amon makes fun of other DJs and their DJ manners (namely Paul Oakenfold) :D

Just go and buy it, it's a masterpiece

Yes, this album is great (but I think not his best).

Is quite different from the past albums, and I think the quality of samples is much higher in this...

Very good album, I think Pitchfork Media was just about on the money with the 8.1/10 rating. Cant wait to watch the DVD tonight.

Bloodstone, Esther's, Keep Your Distance, Always, and Straight Psyche, are my favorite tracks so far. :D

um, scratch that, This CD is not a 8.1/10 ....More like 10/10.

When I read the review from Pitchfork, I thought they were kidding about recording sounds from actual ants. Then I watched the DVD. NUTZ!!!

I saw Amon Tobin twice this week end. It was awesome, his new material just kicks ass.

And check out this extended version of Horsefish with beats (from about 3mn30 to 8mn). It's just beautiful. It gives me thrills, it could become my favourite Amon Tobin track, if it's released.

And I did a lot of videos of yesterday's gig, check them out :

Finally ordered Chaos Theory OST and Foley Room. I'll get the inFamous OST after if I can find a place to listen to it to see if it's any good. This is the quote from Wiki which got me moist

Quote

Tobin was specifically brought on board due to his recent trend of blurring the lines between music and sound design as exhibited in his then-recent album, Foley Room. Instead of using traditional instruments, the team sought to use sounds that results from objects that would be found in an urban environment and using such objects in combination with other instruments used in non-traditional manners; for example, bungee cords were strung alongside a bass drum and strummed, and wire brushes were hit against a suspended tuba.[

Yeah, it's out on the 16th of this month :D He only did the "climactic scenes" though, which I'm looking forward to hearing but would have prefered the whole project to be by Tobin :D

Well, the soundtrack to Chaos Theory is pretty sweet, so this should have excellent contributions from Amon Tobin, considering he has to produce less material. Somebody might suggest "quality over quantity." I won't.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

The work he did on Chaos Theory was really huge. He spent a lot of time recoding musicians that he selected personnaly, then he did 3 or 4 different tracks (exploration, stress, high stress, attack) for each level of the game, and then re-arranged all that to make tracks, and mixed them in 5.1.

I'm pretty excited to hear that Amon is doing some new stuff for the next Splinter Cell!
...but of course, not nearly as excited as I am about Further! ;-)

And he's working on his next album aswell. And I guess he'll be back on DJ Sets around the Autumn for Ninja Tune XX (Ninja Tune's 20th birthday)

I didn't really notice anything that sounded particularly like him. It is a pretty short demo--it just has mostly ambient/orchestral stuff.

I forgot to say, there is one bit in the game where you're on an airfield and you have to sneak past all these bastards. When you do you get to this bit where Grim is in your ear talking about Sam's daughter. The next bit is 'kin hard, and it took me soooooo many attempts to complete it but it wasn't so bad because the music was unmistakeably Tobins, and it sounds fucking great! Any word on where I can get it?

I've been listening to the Foley Room and just watched the DVD, it's a genius album. So many organic sounds, and it just surrounds you. I'll be auto-buying his future albums.

In my searching I found dead links for exclusive tracks that were on his site, but as I said, dead now. I want!
