they do like latin bossa covers of classic old tunes, and they are actually really fuckin good, much better than that description.

check the first album out, its great - i hope the next album isnt too much of the same although its hard to see how much they can differentiate they're sound, seeing as they do what they do, and they do it very well.

You are wrong. Morcheeba's (ex)-singer is called Skye Edwards.

I don't think you'd like it. :P

The album was a hit, we sold a ton of copies at the record store and people always asked "who is that?" when it was playing.

I kind of dig the bassa nova style, it's weird that the style is applied to these songs but for some reason it works and that's what makes it clever. And refreshing. I can't say I'm too happy with the Just Can't Get Enough, but there's some pretty catchy tunes overall.

We got into a discussion about this album some months ago. I think I mentioned then that for a first album of cover tunes this went off rather well but as for a follow-up album with more cover songs done in the same style - it might put the band in danger of being passed off as a kitsch act. I think this band has enough style and it's obvious they are talented - I'd be interested in hearing what they could cook up in terms of original tunes.

Yeah I'd be interested in that too. Know any other artists in this genre I should listen to?

Well, that's a good question - there aren't a whole lot of bands that incorporate the bossa nova style to familiar new wave songs from the 80's! :P

But I'd say, check out Bebel Gilberto - she's got an amazing voice and the music is a chill out relaxed feel without being kitschy or gimmicky and in my opinion the top of her game. Or check out the possibly best known bossa nova type song, Girl From Ipanema by Antonia Carlos Jobin.

There's other artists - Astrud Gilberto (Bebel's mother or step mother, I can't remember) Joao Gilberto. There's also a few classic jazz artists like Charlie Byrd that have successfully incorporate a bassa nova style into their music. I'm pretty sure Charlie Byrd and a couple other jazz artists teamed up with the Gilbertos at some points during their careers...

'hearts a lonely hunter' features david byrne of talking heads, great tune.

Whatever you do, please don't buy Sam Obernicks bossa nova style album!

She does rather suck.
