Honestly, I've nothing against the man and, at this point, think he should continue on until after the World Cup (the time to change would have been after Euro 2004 when his negative tactics actually led to me cheering on the Portuguese). He's not a bad person and the jury's still out on him as a manager.
But when you make a mistake and open your mouth the way he did, an honest and genuine person would own up to it and not try to place blame in the laps of others. Yeah, he was basically entrapped, but he CHOSE to open his mouth. He chose to come across like an arrogant twat.

he was talking hypothetically about loads of situations, and just talking casually as im sure football managers do when they are out of earshot.
frankly, i blame the news of the world for printing this shite - what we need is a stability and support in the run up to deutsche land 2006, not pointless celebrity tittle tattle, most of which we already knew!! 'mickey owen not happy at newcastle' - quell fookin supprise!! 'i might manage aston villa one day if they pay me lots of cash' - u dont say!! rubbish news!!!

That doesn't change the fact that Eriksson should simply admit he made a mistake and attempt to rebuild any bridges he may have burned.
For him to try and turn this around and actually not make him look small requires him to passionately turn this into an "everyone's out to get England" escape ala Senors Ferguson and Mourinho would do. I don't think Sven has the passion and temperment to pull that "it's us against the world" shtick like the above two Grade A assmagnets (and great managers..... I grudgingly admit).
The fact remains that even if it's just idle chitchat while he thinks microphones are out of earshot, it is still grossly unprofessional to discuss the things he discussed in the way he discussed them. He was basically at a job interview; it's always bad form to bash your previous "coworkers" and employers (not that he bashed the FA, but you catch my drift), etc.
News of the World may deserve to rot in hell (like most of the tabloids), but Sven is being dishonest in trying to shunt the blame for this.
(And it's precisely b/c of incidents like this that I don't blame Sven one little bit for looking ahead for new employment after Germany. No one deserves that kind of treatment, not even knobends. Well, maybe Mourinho, but that's because he would be very amusing in the situation. :D I love Mourinho: he's my favourite asshat. Quel douche, but very amusing.)

stole this from another forum, works a treat:
f like me, you are a tramp, you wont have Sky and will therefore either go down the pub to watch matches you can't get to, or wait for poor quality highlight shows that offer 5 minutes of action interspersed with ex-footballers talking guff.
No more my friends, this is the future!
Really simple stuff (honest)
Go here: www.tvants.com and download their player which is a tiny 1.8 mb, it's the little box to the left of the Windows Media icon.
Install it, and run it.
Then, with it still open, go to: http://www.football4less.com/schedules
Click today's date, tonight we only have the West Ham - Fulham match, but I wasted my entire weekend watching Spurs-Villa on Saturday, then on Sunday, Charlton-Chelsea, United-Liverpool and then later on watched a bit of Barcalona-Alaves before I got football overload and gave up like an amateur.
Then click the little green TV link, (any matches that have this little green telly you can watch) - this will take you to another channel choice page, click the little yellow box at the top of the page (Guangdong Sports) a media window will open and you are away!
You will also notice a load of links at the top of this page, these all correspond to the 277 Asian TV channels you now have access to for your 1.8mb download! Films, Sport, Soaps, Music, yadda yadda, but it's the footy that wins for me.
kerwality!! :D

Yeah, I don't think that was televised here though. And it's amazing the results Canada can get when we're not subject to Latin American officiating! (..... now if only we could score a goal once in a while.....)

...... then I get about 4 hours of sleep before my indoor soccer match, from whence I will go straight to work... before going briefly to my work Christmas party and then leaving there to go raving my ass off all tomorrow night...... stimulants are in order....

Sentimentally, this makes me so happy. I missed Robbie's first go around with the Reds and I hope he can recapture some of that magic, even if I have some extreme doubts. I just finished reading his autobio recently and he seems like a good lad.

6 goals, 4 assists in 2 hours. Some spine-tingling moves! Man, I've caught the fever. Hockey is back!!!!!!
Soccer in 6 hours! yay!
I have such bad blisters on my feet though, it's like Coachella all over again! Hope I can fit my soccer shoes.

i mean the referee dicked us over natch, having had dawson sent off for bugger all, but conceeding in the 90th minute is just bobbins. a bit like when we played west ham, we seem to let our concentration slip that little bit near the end of the game.
sorely missing davids and now mido tbh, though goood to see the ledders back :D
