It's almost like a Drum n Bass mix of Two Months Off, if you think about it. The two tracks have pretty similar structures.

on first listen i thought it was a bit rubbish, and my girlfriend said the beat sounded like Pendulum, which made me laugh a lot,

but by the end of the tune i was liking it,

i need to give the later Underworld albums more of a chance, the first three are some of my favorites (and Everything Everything!)

In 2005, Underworld released the Riverrun series, a trio of downloadable mixes of new material and works-in-progress, making them one of the first acts of their scale to attempt to directly sell their own records. The band continue to release alternate versions and curios through underworldlive.com

I didn't know about these, anybody have them? I can't find shite on their site.

Iggy - yeah, I bought the River Run series when it was released. There were 3 packages - Lovely Broken Things, Pizza for Eggs, and my personal favourite and best title ever, I'm A Big Sister, And I'm A Girl, And I'm A Princess And This Is My Horse. Class. Anyway, each of them are around 30 mins and containing a number of tracks, such as JAL to Tokyo, Lenny Penne, Play Pig, that they were playing live around that time. Although not on it, a lot of the live sets include You Do Scribble, the instrumental version of the current single.

EDIT: you can still buy them on the Underworld site - go to Shop, and Music. Voila.

I love it. To me Underworld just has such a unique sound and fill a very unique place in the whole electronic spectrum.

BTW I love Oblivion with Bells. It's not always instantly accessible, but when you really start to listen to it and get into it, it is beautiful. It ranks up there with Dubno and second toughest for me.

This with Further is going to make working out this month so much better.

For those of you not "in the know" (I hate being so condescending, but it's the only phrase I could come up with), the majority of the songs on this album are versions of tracks they've been playing live for a while. The opener, "Bird 1", goes all the way back to an improv from 2000!

Have you heard the latest (would post the link but it was removed for copyright violations) track by Underworld? I do not like it, sounds like Deadmau5.

Yeah, but there's a load of older versions that are really quality tracks:

"Silver Boots" version (one of the oldest ones, from 2006):

"Version 4" (my personal favorite, and just uploaded to YouTube by me for your listening pleasure!):

It's amazing the number of stages a song like this can go through.

I don't gonna love it just because it's Underworld, I'm a great fan, I think Oblivion With Bells was magnific, but Barking seems to be like a collection of stupid club tracks...
Nothing original, the same production than hundred and hundred other dance albums, the only difference is the Karl's voice on it... I'm waiting for the album but I'm afraid...

Additional Production: Mark Knight & D. Ramirez

Sounds pretty good to me!

Well, as long as what they're doing new is good, I'll be cool with it. If they sh*t the bed like Fatboy Slim did with Gutter, then I'll be pretty dissapointed. We'll see.

I have to say I like the Silver Boots version better than the new one. Hmmm...

Well I never loved EVERY track on an Underworld album, so this is acceptable at the moment.

I've done a u-turn on this track and i'm now loving it! Got that summer warmth :D

I wish I had summer to with this track too! I'm absolutely in love with Scribble though, can definitely hear the High Contrast influence. Mistabishi and High Contrast are my two favorite artists from Hospital Records so I'm glad Underworld choose one of them to collaborate with.

I did hear in an interview with Karl Hyde that he really enjoyed how up-lifting High Contracts drum and bass was so I guess they weren't looking for anyone dark to work with. However it was Danny Byrd they decided to collaborate with I would have wanted someone to remove my ear drums! Completely and utterly terrible drum and bass.
its a little early but thanks anyway

I don't know whether to get this album, I've got a feeling it'll have some gems on it.

Well, they've always had insane videos like that. Though I'll admit I would've liked something a little more plot-driven.
