REASONS FOR NO LIVE DVD

Definitely a good point, irish!
As much as I'd love a Live DVD so I could have that magic in my livingroom whenever I wanted, I'd much rather have something quality and unique as the spirit of the Chems shows rather than something that was slapped together in a week.
Ed said there won't be a live dvd (our campaign was pretty funny though!) but maybe eventually there will be, I hope. Even if it's years from now... I think they do care a lot about their live shows and the response to them, and if they were to take on a masive project like making a DVD I can only imagine they'd want that to reflect as many aspects of their live shows as possible. Even the glint in Tom's eye.

the thing that pissed me off with that comment from ed was that he apparantley said there would be no no live dved as it would not reflect the true live experience of seeing them live, yet they were quite happy to chuck some live performances in as extras on the greatest hits dvd.

Well, I wasn't angry but I'm not going to pretend I wasn't disappointed... but I can see where Ed was coming from. It's his music, it's his show, and it's good that he came on and explained why a live DVD isn't what he and Tom have in mind right now. Of course we might see things differently but I'm sure their reasons are justified right now.
The live stuff on the Singles DVD was more an added bonus, something to go along with the videos and interviews and to have it in there fit right in. The Singles DVD was more a retrospective spanning 10 years and less like a Greatest Hits (even though the singles were the hits). I've always viewed the live portion of the DVD as much a retrospective as the singles themselves are. I really think they thrive from being on the road and seeing the response they get from what they do live, it must be a trip for them to see that audience response over the years. From live Chemical Beats to the live Hoops you can see and hear how their live set has evolved over the years just like their music has - maybe that's what they wanted to get across, maybe not. Who knows. Anyway I would've felt cheated if they didn't include any live material whatsoever in the DVD.

Something we should all bear in mind when comparing Underworld's 'Everything Everything' DVD to a potential Chems live DVD is that 'Everything' was compiled at a stage when Underowld were on the brink of breaking up. Fortunately, for those of us who are Underworld fans, Rick and Karl carried on without Emerson but the point is that it was a retrospective DVD.
I for one hope the Chems carry on for many years to come and if that means we have to wait several decades for a live DVD then so be it! X-D

Absolutely, but assuming we eventually do get a release, the quality and energy of E,E is something to aim for.

Yes it is 'the weekend starts here'. Howver Im not sure of the title of the other one. It was on channel 4 around singles release and has off cuts from interviews on the dvd, I also think it shows golden path video and a bit of live footage.
