Not like that enhanced cd stuff which imo is on the way out. It depends on whether or not these discs are sale priced, but in general they aren't much more expensive to produce than the regular cd's with the normal format.

that's right if you watch the real production costs which are really low compared to selling price - but seen in percentage (that's what counts for the record company bosses) it's quite higher.

Hmmm, this maybe is a high cost of releasing a DVD single. But i think, chemical brothers are a prestige music composers and are now on a highlight. I think they may to release a DVD single of the next PTB single (i wish). I come to this like to a high limited release like other rare releases, but hmm, i'am very curious how many copies of Star Guitar or Come With Us DVD's was made...

BTW, the DVD format is very famous today and even a basic medium. I think this Dual Format is very good solve for a single with a video, because i hate Enhanced CD format like American EP. It sucks!!!!The quality of videos is veeery poor...But maybe someday Virgin release a next DVD with a videos from Get Yourself High to...newest video :)

argh! :o same old topic.

however: chemical brothers have a contract with virgin, part of the big multimegamonstermachine called major music companies. those poor companies all have no money left so they give a shit about prestige music composers. and tom and ed can't even have an independent release on their freestyle dust label due to their contract with virgin/EMI

Heh, i have that same problem. I want to grab a Dexter's International Scribble Mix, Golden Path and Star Guitar mixes from my DVD's and put them together on one cd to listen it on the car, but i don't know how to extract it from DVD format to wav. :?

Ok. I got that. I can't rip this with SoundForge, but i found fine program to rip the music off the DVD to wav: BeSweet. You can find that on http://dspguru.doom9.net/ .

But remember, You can rip the dvd ONLY for Yourself, only in one copy to preserve the original. ;-)

i've got it as triple vinyl. think, that was a release for the DJs as it only featured 6 trks, incl. the golden path remix plus the deconstruction of no one knows (a smasher IMO)
