actually, it is because we posted at the same time (it took me a swhile listening to all the tunes, and reviewing them,relistening to the min the process..)

So here is my opinion : you've got a bucnh of good ideas, but it seems they they are put together randomly and belong to different songs. overall, it should have been much shorter, it seems the listenenr is always waiting for something to happen. it lacks an overall cohesion and structure. I've found the sounds used a bit cheap and synthetic, lacking a biut of fatness, but that's maybe because of my crap speakers (could'nt be bothered to reach for the headphones...). I liked the references to other tracks (synth notes sounds like believe, chords at the end sound like the test...), so yeah, there are a few good moments but it lacks a general direction...

[quote name="TryptaJunk"]I finally got a chance to listen to the remixes posted here, so here is my opinion :

@griffin :

-the second one is not, IMO, as shitty as everyone seems to think. it seems you could have found this tune on Music For The Jilted Generation, but, hey, we are not in 1994 anymore, so it is not up to today's standards, but, from a producer approach, I have to say big up to you. I mean, if you did it without any premade loops, there obviously is a bunch of work here (synth patches, work on the reverb...). if you used loops and just sequenced the things, well, it's cheap.

No no loops i have never used loops in anything yet but i am starting to now as i now know how to use them in a good way that guitar version was my idea to do a cover not a remix the reason it sounds crap is because i think the strings on the proper version being morocon i think use a microtuning were by certain notes are slightly flat or sharp ....oh and because it was X-D

i see your point Mr Junk, but in that whole remix-contest the learning factor stands out, too. but, as you already said, maybe people should spend their time/talent/ideas in own songs. on the other hand, if you remix something, you at least have a basis on which you can build up what makes it easier. of course noone expects anyone to be as good as the chems but hey, even they started out as beginners (at one point).

I agree with you on this. is all a matter of personal taste.

Plus ,to me, when you hear a crap tune, you're like "oh, that's not that good, but at least he/they tried" but, when you hear a crap remiw, it is more "uh, that sucks. there was such great material in the beginning it it was turned into something weak", so I think it is quite hard to make a good remix.

Remixes in the first place were meant to turn pop or rock song into dancefloor friendly tunes, so this is why it is really tricky remixing electornic music into electronic music...

TryptaJunk Escribi:

@evermin : here again, evryone knows the original, so your version just seems strange because it is like the same, except arranged differently and at a higher tempo. It is tempting to do such things with Acid, as it has a very good time stretch algorithm and it is easy to chop the song up then put it back in a different order. But hey, if you pitch up the tempo to make it more dancefloor friendly you should at least make the effort to lie a decent Four on the floor BD underneath, don't you think? Well, it indeed sonds like a first attempt, but keep it going, throw in some orginial ideas, work your way around it. obviously you are good at making arrangements, so take advantage of it (this is something I lack : i can throw in some cool ideas, layering 8 bars loops, but when it comes to turn the thing into a proper tune, working the tension and release, i suck, so I kind a look up on you for managing to get a decent arrangement down, even if it is based only on the chem's sound)

Hey Trypt -- question -- which did you listen to? The maiden flight remix sucks, in my opinion. I was MUCH Happier with the Never Was Live Mix.

The one you posted here - think it's the maiden one.
