Its something i have never been amazing at , i can get to a certain level but some techniques/ideas are lacking.
I need to know the answer to one question and am hoping that you guys can help me, its probably very simple but my small brain cannot get it.
I use ableton mostly by the way to put mixes together but i am trying to make some of my own music and i cant seem to find out how to do something.
If i sample something i can convert to midi and chop it up and do lots of stuff with it but what i cant do is assign the built in midi keyboard to play it in different notes. I can assign it to a key or two, but its the same note. how do i get the sample to play a scale of it for example? Am i being totaaly thick.
any help would be great. thanks

Double click the sound you want from the generated drum rack, then drag and drop the "Slice x" Sampler to another Midi track

I've been doing a live electronic act for a long time now, and would say that the Chemical Brothers are my single biggest influence, which is why I'm here. Something about Tom Rowlands synth programming that just does it for me; I'm guessing that he uses oldschool EMS gear, but I've done my best crazy synthwork with the Nord Modular, which is providing most of the crazy synth noises in this set. Rest of the gear is Ableton (laptop off to the side, no staring at the screen!), a Push and a couple of other controllers.
Lots of good bits in this liveset recording from a warehouse party in Vancouver, Canada last January, but my favourite bit is definitely the breakdown and build/drop starting at about 32:30 until about 34:30.
Would love to hear any feedback you guys (and girls) might have, and would love even more if someone could get a copy of this onto Tom and Ed's home stereos...
