The first album from The Velvet Underground has been named the greatest debut of all-time in a new poll.
"The Velvet Underground & Nico", from 1967, was voted ahead of "Marquee Moon" by Television and "Are You Experienced" by Jimi Hendrix in the survey by Uncut magazine.
The debut release by the New York City avant-garde legends featured the seminal Velvets line-up of Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison and Mo Tucker. Andy Warhol designed the sleeve and is credited with producing the LP.
Elsewhere in the chart, The Stone Roses, The Clash and Joy Division also make the Top Ten, while "Funeral", by the Arcade Fire, is at 100 and "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" by the Arctic Monkeys at 36.
